THE DAILY MUSIC REPORT

Multi-faceted Scottish singer/songwriter Nati Dreddd is back with her brand-new single ‘Stay’, releasing 7th July 2023, which is taken from her forthcoming debut EP, due to drop in October.

Nati Dreddd’s new single ‘Stay’ is a folk-pop dream which centres around her strong vocals, complete with her signature Scottish twang, alongside an up-tempo folk-laden rhythm. The track is about realising that you're expendable to someone, whether you’re in a new relationship or friendship, you tend to keep your guard up, especially if you've been hurt before (“One minute you're all over me and then you say our time is done / And you can't take control of me so let's not say who won”).

Speaking of her new single, Nati said: “This song captures the moment you realise how much this person in your life will change at the drop of a hat. One minute they love you, the next they want nothing to do with you. It's about realising your self-worth and taking your power back.”

In a quiet seaside town in the East of Scotland, Nati has been growing an army of global fans. Last year saw her not only hit nearly 2 million followers across social media platforms but also hit the road supporting Tidelines, Newton Faulkner and Simply Red. A successful run of live-streamed shows meant that Nati could quit her 9-5 job and focus solely on her music. Nati has been busy writing and creating original music with her first single, which she recorded with Rich Turvey (Blossoms), out now.

Nati was on the road in the UK last November with a run of sold-out shows across Scotland - the iconic King Tuts selling out in a matter of hours. In 2023, Nati played her biggest headline show to date at St Luke's in Glasgow. This summer is packed full of festivals and her forthcoming debut EP which will be dropping singles until its release in October.

Just three years ago, Nati was playing guitar in her bedroom, with the aim of keeping herself entertained during lockdown. What she didn’t anticipate was that she was also putting smiles on the faces of hundreds of thousands of people each week, building a community that not only loved Nati for her musical talent and dreamy vocals but her huge, warm, inclusive personality which lifts spirits all over the world. In a time when the world felt lonely, Nati was everybody’s friend.

This week in the build up to Nati headlining The River Stage at TRNSMT she had a brilliant interview with Janice Forsyth on BBC Radio Scotland - from 40 minutes you can hear Nati in action. She was also on BBC Scotland TV on The Nine talking all things Stay & TRNSMT.

Nati Dreddd’s new single ‘Stay’ is due for release on 7th July 2023.
