(24th September) Rising Stockholm duo tibia today release their second single, "Mary's Lifestyle". It follows their debut "Two weeks of Gloria" - a snarling, garage-rock flecked indie-pop cut that drew early praise and support from sources including The Line of Best Fit, Dork Magazine, Far Out Magazine, Ones To Watch, Record Of The Day & more.

Having made their live debut last month at Way Out West festival in Gothenberg and then returning to Stockholm to play a sold-out, frenzied rooftop headline show of their own - tibia have quickly established themselves as hot prospects in Sweden. With the release of their second single "Mary's Lifestyle" today - tibia look to enhance their reputation as one of the most exciting new outfits to surface this year.

tibia is Vide Willemark and Elias Sahlin (Vide - an in demand songwriter and producer across the breadth of Sweden & Elias - a Swedish Grammy nominated musician and artist in his own right).

New single "Mary's Lifestyle" shows another side to tibia's wide-ranging indie-rock. Accompanied by a video of the pair chasing the song's titular character, jagged danceable drums are partnered by soaring guitars - all driven forward by tibia's trademark dual vocals.

Speaking on the release of new single "Mary's Lifestyle," tibia said:

"Mary, she’s the love of your life. She’s pure bliss, man. She’s the first hour of a relapse, the tequila to your Tuesday and the “let’s call it a day”. She’s also the one that cuts your chest open and keeps doing it over and over again. She’s all the highs and all the lows. There’s pleasure in accepting that you can’t live without her, but there’s also pain in knowing that you don’t stand a chance. It’s crazy that she can’t see it, but whatever, I cut out a piece of my lifestyle for you."

"We wrote the song in one go, early morning, no sleep, all the emotions. Then we went out for a minute and when we came back in the evening we wanted to make it fly, so the riff came along. The framework was there so we brought in the king in our lives, aka drummer in our band, August and he did what he does best. The song came easily but the knowing is something u gotta learn the hard way."

Best friends from school, Elias and Vide drifted apart in their mid-twenties. They knew that something had to be done. With that, they agreed to meet up again at a trashy bar across the street from Vide's studio in Stockholm to put the world to right.

It was there the two old friends quickly reconnected, reminiscing about their past, their friendship and the music they grew up on. tibia was born.

Soon after that night - reunited and reinvigorated by their shared past - they ventured back to the Stockholm high school basement where their friendship began, to build the foundations of what would become an album's worth of new songs. Operating with the most basic of recording set-ups, it was there the pair wrote and recorded 30+ tracks amidst a burst of unprecedented creativity and drive.

tibia is a project rooted in friendship and the indelible threads that bind humans together. The music Elias and Vide are making is defiantly looking to the future, whilst retaining an appreciation of their forebears.

Writing and producing together without prestige, embracing their mutual love for indie-pop, garage, pop punk and their shared admiration for acts including Suicide, The Sugarcubes, Gorillaz, The Undertones, MGMT and Nirvana tibia are looking for meaning in a warped nightlife where it’s all about chasing highs and running from lows.

"Mary's Lifestyle" - the second single from tibia is out now.
