Moose Cult Announces Self-Titled Debut Album, Set for Release in August
United Kingdom's own Moose Cult has announced the release of their self-titled debut album, scheduled for a digital release on August 4, 2023. This up-and-coming heavy metal and death/doom group have crafted an album that delves deep into the boundaries of these genres, showcasing their unique blend of influences.
Moose Cult was formed by Jonny Moose, who envisioned a blend of old school heavy metal and death/doom. He sought to create something musically adjacent to existing bands: Monsterworks, Thūn, and Bull Elephant. To help bring his vision to life, he enlisted Hugo, who provides the grooves on a fretless bass, James Knoerl's precision drumming, and new collaborator Tommy Loose's deft lead guitar skills.
In line with their name, Moose Cult's concept is an "envirometal" tribute to preserving nature. Though, with the final artwork from All4band.com, the album takes on a somewhat more sinister appearance.
The seven-track album includes a mix of songs that demonstrate the band's range and ambition. From the eponymous opener "Moose Cult" to the ominous "The Blood of Dead Idealists" and the epic "Mountain," the album is a journey through the band's multifaceted sound.
The recording process was a collaborative effort. Drums were handled by JK Rollin', lead guitar by Sam Loose, vocals were recorded by Jamie at Echo Studios, and the bass was laid down late at night by Hugo. All other guitars were recorded by Jonny Moose during his off-work hours. The mixing was done by Jon, with mastering performed by Dan Swanö at Unisound, Sweden.
The tracklist for "Moose Cult" is as follows:
Moose Cult
The Blood of Dead Idealists
Dire Logic
No. Really.
Two Sides to Every Folly
Mountain
The Girl That Saved the World
