Moonchild Sanelly teams up with Onipa for 'Danger'

Afro-futurist sensations Onipa share details of an autumn UK tour alongside stunning new video for new cut ‘Danger’. Skating effortlessly through afrobeats, highlife, kwaito, UK bass and late-night-party vibes, the vocals of Xhosa punk princess and Beyonce collaborator Moonchild Sanelly light up the track.

Moonchild Sanelly’s electrifying energy, infectious voice and killer hooks make her one of the most sought after acts today, whilst her outspoken approach to female empowerment makes her one of the most poignant. Her fearless sound was born with her in South Africa, where a string of smash hits has gained her superstar status with collaborations including Beyonce, Diplo, Gorillaz and Ghetts’ (on hit ‘Mozambique’).

An energetic track about togetherness, it always destroys the dancefloor when Onipa play it out and sounds just as comfortable amongst the sweat of a North London club or soundtracking the hustle of a Ghanaian market.

The directors of the intergalactic animated music video Gaby Bran and Hector K-B:

“Onipa's Afro-Futurist sound and look gave us such a great jumping off point when it came to coming up with a concept. We knew it had to include aliens, spaceships, nebulas etc. As ‘Danger’ is such a great club tune we wanted to inject a lot of vibrant colour and high energy movement into the video.”

Onipa explain further:

"After the experience of lockdown and our journey through that time, we realised the world needed a sonic outlet. DANGER is a reminder of the times and how humanity chose victory through resilience and connection, a track encouraging us all to get out and embrace each other and in a way congratulate ourselves for holding on through harsh times."

“The line ‘No more danger, move to the centre' embodies the power of gatherings to dispel fear. A blend of contemporary South African dance music and UK rave culture, creating a trance-like space where collective consciousness expands into outer realms.”
