MILK ST. HAVE RELEASED A PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER IN SONG FORMAT WITH NEW SINGLE “PEYOTE”
Northeast emo three-piece Milk St. have released their latest single “Peyote” today Wednesday, July 12th, the follow-up to “China Town” and second track to be featured on their upcoming EP Vermont.
On “Peyote,” Milk St. offers another self-reflective look at the relationships they form in the chaotic world that surrounds them. It’s the realization that while you may detest characteristics of the people who raised you, you often find those same characteristics in the people you choose to form a relationship with in your formative years, a seemingly endless cycle with no escape.
Speaking on the lyrical themes of the track, vocalist Jonah Wakefield says, “Peyote is about realizing your parents aren’t always right and that any new perspectives you take on may be influenced by the mental illness passed down hereditarily to you. Ultimately, you’re left feeling horrified that you can’t escape the thing that influences their different opinions and outlooks, to the point where you accidentally seek those traits in the people you date - you’re left stuck in this cycle of having the same sort of people in your life over and over.”
Sonically, Milk St. plays further into their unconventional mix of bluegrass and indie punk to the point where you’re not sure whether you should square dance or two-step along to the undeniably moving instrumentation - we recommend doing what feels most natural. With one more single still on the horizon - “Pixie Cuts and Angel Dust” - the Vermont EP is shaping up to be one of the most introspective and unique releases of the year!

ABOUT MILK ST.
Northeast emo from the Pine Tree State. While the foundations of the band date back to 2018, originally under the name Spaced, Milk St. officially launched in 2022 with the release of their debut album Spaced - an ode to their first name. Composed of founding vocalist and guitarist Jonah Wakefield, bassist Gabe Chambers, and drummer Harry Burns, Mill St. quickly followed up their debut effort with two singles - “I’m Sorry That I Left You (On New Years Day)” and “Just Lust” - that have been very well-received to date.
With the recent addition of Harry Burns to the band as a full-time member, Milk St. were motivated to get back into the studio, where they recorded 9+ demos in the span of just two weeks! Two of those demos would become their latest singles - “China Town” and “Peyote” - both of which will be featured on their upcoming EP Vermont, set for release at the beginning of September!
