In fact, the tracks are his heaviest collection of songs to date and pack an unignorable punch to the gut. With the new EP, Mike’s Dead is paving his way to becoming a household name in the metal music world. Next up: The singer is preparing a slew of monstrous release events this December in partnership with Louder Than Life and Sonic Temple.Tickets available here.
FT. THE LEAD TRACK: “GRIP”
“GRIP seems to be an ode to my mental health (or at least can be) depending on the day,” Mike shares. “I’m not shy about my mental health; it’s an everyday thing. I referenced some low points in my life throughout GRIP but overall just focused the song to about losing my shit and being on the edge. I’m sure a ton of ppl will resonate w/ this as the chorus is very emotionally driven and raw. When writing this one I didn’t go back and overthink things; just wrote from my emotions.
I wrote & produced GRIP w/ two awesome people, my friends Markus & Matias, a few months back on a writing trip to LA. It was one of the first sessions that week and we all seemed to click immediately and have a shared idea of what the song was going to be. Having 3 producers in the room is always funny because we were piling on top of each other to put down different ideas and riffs. The hook came to me very quickly, and Matias helped out w/ the pre chorus. I love how we added the acoustic guitar in the beginning to really make that first riff come in even harder.
I think GRIP follows Bite Down really really well as they both have the industrial synth bass blaring through. They both share the “pretty” pre chorus feeling but GRIP really hits home w/ the catchy radio chorus. It’s got a bit of a church feel to it, and we wanted to keep that in to make it feel more anthemic. GRIP is a bit more “radio friendly” but the verses still have my high energy hip hop delivery w/ some deep 808s. I feel like this is a really good example of a more commercially friendly Mike’s Dead song that still maintains the uniqueness of the project!”

Mike’s Dead shares of the EP:
“The 'REBIRTH' EP marks a super pivotal moment for myself & Mike's Dead, as it signifies and embraces this heavier, more metal leading sound. Starting in the underground lane I think it's super important to not only embrace your roots, but embrace the growth in your music and how it's changed. The Rebirth EP follows the Revenge EP from 2021, and really kicks into the rock space while still properly blending my original underground sound (i.e Bite Down, Scream & Shout etc). I'm excited to share this with the world as this seems to be the new benchmark for team Dead from both a sonic and writing perspective. Rolling out some of these singles has gotten the attention of a lot of industry folk, and I hope this project shows people that Mike's Dead is truly the next face of industrial.”
