Mesmerising UK rockers, CALL TO THE VOID, will reveal their anthemic new single, Viper’s Venom, out everywhere on Friday 13th September
CALL TO THE VOID is an intensely intriguing four-piece rock crew hailing from London. Fronted by Jack Osborne, with John McGlade on guitar, John Settle on bass, and Glen Bartholomew on drums, the band’s vast influences range from Placebo and The Smashing Pumpkins to David Bowie, The Doors, and Tool. Taking their name from the French expression "L'appel du Vide", CALL TO THE VOID refers to the phenomenon many experience when faced with a fearful height and feel the compulsion to jump. Charismatic vocalist Jack Osborne adds: “Like a dark secret so many of us keep, the expression has always called to me, with its eerie, taboo yet relatable subject matter. Control and impulse are so much of what makes us human."
After a delayed start, CALL TO THE VOID had a resurgence in 2024 when new recruit and old friend Glen Bartholomew was drafted in on drums. His addition not only solidified their line-up but also helped revitalise their sound, as evidenced by their explosive new single Viper’s Venom. The track was recorded at Bonafide Studio in London and is a vastly engulfing cut that illustrates the band’s songwriting guile and ability to deliver a killer hook.
The accompanying video, partly shot on the Balearic Island of Mallorca, is a crafty piece of eye candy. Osborne elaborates: “I really wanted to create a contrast between the dark subject matter and the visuals for the song. The sea and the waves are meant to represent the constancy of time, and the ever-changing cycles of life as the song references nature, the days beginning and ending. The video is all DIY. We had family film us on two separate occasions whilst I edited the whole thing together. It’s been a labour of love.”
Further releases and content are planned for the remainder of the year, along with the promise of a string of live performances. CALL TO THE VOID are now in full flow, and nothing can stop their ascent.
