Mazarine Debuts a Giallo-Inspired Music Video for "White Knight"
Los Angeles alt rock band Mazarine has self-released a Giallo-inspired music video for their new single, "White Knight." This self-directed and produced music video pulls inspiration from horror films like Dario Argento’s Suspiria, Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo, and Kim Jee-woon’s A Tale of Two Sisters.
"White Knight" showcases Mazarine's '90s grunge rock influence, driven by Derrick Perry’s raw guitar work. Vocalist Angie Kang drew from personal experiences with a narcissistic relationship to write the emotionally-driven lyrics. The band describes the song as “the soundtrack to '90s dark teen movies like The Craft, Nowhere, and The Doom Generation”.
The track marks a distinct shift from their debut single, "Feels So Real," which leans more into dreamy shoegaze and pop elements. With "White Knight," Mazarine explores a grittier, darker sound, further expanding their sonic palette.
Formed in early 2024, Mazarine is a Los Angeles-based band born out of a remote collaboration between Derrick Perry and Angie Kang. Their sound merges shoegaze, dream pop, trip-hop, grunge, post-punk, and no-wave influences to create something nostalgic and atmospheric.
"White Knight" is now available on Spotify and all major streaming platforms.
