Matt Finucane to release 'Bang Bang Exorcism' EP on 27 September 2024

Matt Finucane is a British musician known for his distinctive style that blends elements of post-punk, grunge, and art-rock.

He has released several albums and EPs showcasing his unique and experimental approach. While not widely known on the mainstream music scene, Finucane has built a dedicated following within the alternative music community for his thought-provoking lyrics and edgy sound.

His work creates a raw and introspective musical world for his listeners – an atmospheric and sometimes brooding ambiance that reflects themes of alienation, introspection, and the darker aspects of human experience.

His sound is often described as a captivating and immersive experience that resonates with those who appreciate music that goes beyond the ordinary.  It reflects an artist who continues to grow and explore creatively, with a willingness to experiment and evolve that has allowed him to maintain relevance and intrigue within the indie and alternative music scenes.

"Bang Bang Exorcism" is a loud, raw emotional catharsis captured on record in Portslade, of all places. It takes darkness, introspection and a lifetime of emotional damage and makes them fun… Then torches them all with righteous energy.

It came about when Matt and drummer Barney Guy realized they both liked trance music in the car on long drives to gigs… So why not capture the feel and tone of it, but in a primal rock format? And why not go deep, and make it an actual exorcism? Themes of isolation, mental disturbance and the ghosts and shadows of the past vented in psychodrama and big feedback and weirdness: it’s absolutely unholy, and nothing more is needed.
