LOU PANICO UNLEASHES THE POWER OF ROCK TO CONQUER LOVE ON “SMH”

Lou Panico’s “SMH,” invites listeners to the beach for a singalong jam capturing the electrifying rush of finding a crush and falling in love.

“SMH,” out September 8th, combines rock-and-roll-inspired flair and quintessential pop-punk sensibilities to bring forth an infectious track about the magnetism of summer love. The flirty exchanges arising between sweaty beachgoers is palpable as “SMH’s” music video details “volleyball with soccer moms” and “muscle dudes in miniskirts.”

Panico discussed the inspiration for the track, “SMH started as a fun riff I was playing on my guitar inspired by all the KISS and glam rock I was listening to during the pandemic. (Thank you KISS for helping me keep my sanity through the lockdown!) The lyrics are a true story of how I met my wife. If you’ve ever visited the Jersey Shore, specifically the Asbury Park Boardwalk, this song is for you!”

Panico’s wife, fellow musician Natalie Farrell, even plays the Baywatch-esque lifeguard of his dreams in the music video, shot and directed by Mike Monto of Burning Wick Studios.

Ultimately, Panico hopes the track reminds his audience not to take life too seriously, “My goal in writing SMH was to put a smile on the face of the listener. A light-hearted, upbeat, singalong, ear-worm type of tune that will be stuck in your head for weeks.”

“The music video was shot on Asbury Park Beach and is very much inspired by late 90s, early 2000s comedic music videos like blink-182’s ‘What’s My Age Again,’ ‘All The Small Things’ and Foo Fighters’ ‘Learn To Fly.’”

Panico is celebrating the release of 'SMH' with an exclusive live performance at Asbury Park's House of Independents on September 8th. Secure your tickets here or catch the show via live stream on his Facebook and Instagram pages.

ABOUT LOU PANICO

Lou Panico was raised in Linden, New Jersey, a hop, skip, and a jump away from New York City. From a young age, Lou was singing, dancing, and performing in front of anyone who would let him. He was recruited into the NJ All State Children’s Choir in elementary school and would start performing in musicals in school.

After discovering punk rock (most notably, his favorite band of all time
Blink-182) in middle school, Lou started playing guitar and writing his own
music. He started his first band in freshman year called BLUE STAR DRIVE.
He attended Seton Hall Prep (West Orange, NJ) where he met other
like-minded players who were also in bands. He joined SOCRATIC (Drive-Thru Records) shortly after and began to travel the world to Japan, Australia,
and all around the continental USA performing original rock and roll songs.

Lou has worked with Mark Hoppus of Blink-182 (Mark produced the 2008 Socratic Album “Spread The Rumors”) and has shared the stage with acts like Incubus, All American Rejects, The Offspring, Saves The Day, Brand New, The Early November, Say Anything, Jack Antonoff, and many more.
