"A marriage of reedy folk and Americana tones with warm indie rock instrumentation, all knit together with Wild’s reflective lyrical voice." Under The Radar

“A song that will transport you back in time and drop you in the middle of a 1960s nightclub” Xtra Magazine

“As statements of musical intent go, Rendezvous is a mighty impressive one, a little glimpse of an artist who could just be onto something very special.” For The Rabbits

Today, Lola Wild, an enigmatic indie artist with a penchant for weaving hauntingly beautiful melodies, has released 'Get Up', the title track from her forthcoming debut EP which will be released this Friday via Tip Top Recordings. With a unique blend of alternative indie, folk, and dream pop, Get Up is a captivating journey through Lola's retro influences and personal experiences.

'Get Up', which premiered via Under The Radar, encapsulates the EPs spirit. Of her new single, Lola says:

"This track is an ode to my little youth. Like most young people, you do and say what you thought at the time was necessary to block out certain aspects of life, I guess. Eventually it just got to the point where I needed to get up, move on and sort my stuff out. It’s also an audible glimpse of a lot of anxieties I challenged at the time. Battling with being present, ‘happy’ and being somewhere else mentally, influenced by my obsession with the sad clown paradox - the contradiction between outward appearance and internal emotions, hiding true feelings behind a facade of happiness."

Inspired by legends like Roy Orbison, The Beatles, and Billie Holiday, Get Up evokes an otherworldly nostalgia for fans of artists like Angel Olsen, Sharon Van Etten and Weyes Blood. The EP was recorded in East London’s Strongroom Music Studios with producer and multi-instrumentalist Jim Wallis (member of the acclaimed band Modern Nature and touring drummer for Still Corners).

In September, Lola released her debut single ‘Rendezvous’, a retro-tinged ode to pansexuality and sexual fluidity. The story of the single holds a more poignant meaning than the up-beat crooney, Fosse inspired video let on. Written about two same sex lovers and the social pressures of where they should sit with their sexuality and gender roles, the song recounts Lola's own experience at the time she began exploring her sexual identity.

In November she released the follow up,  ‘Here I Go’. The single was a duet featuring Americana & folk musician Robert Chaney. Lola describes the song, saying, "I feel this is a relatable song for most people who have experienced a negative and frustrating shift in their relationship, showing signs of emotional separation and the disappointment that often arises when our desires are not being met. It implies a sense of resignation and a fear that you are missing out on something else."

Of her debut record, Lola says "Each track on this EP became an audial glimpse of a profound memory or experience, though elements might not be entirely factual it certainly feels like a written memoir in some way. I only hope it can trigger a specific reminiscence for the listener too.”

“The E.P’s title was inspired by a time I had a lot of interpersonal difficulty, like most early-mid 20 year olds, I partied a lot, and was basically lolling through a lot of my problems,” she explains. “I remember just getting to a point where it felt like my mind split into two and I began internally arguing with myself, everytime I fell into old habits. Just got to the point where I needed to get up, move on and sort my sh*t out,” she continues.

With Get Up Lola Wild emerges as an artist whose music promises to captivate, inspire, and resonate with audiences as they embark on their own journeys of self-discovery and personal growth. Prepare to be entranced by Lola's unique blend of genres, her thought-provoking storytelling, and the timeless melodies that are sure to linger in your soul.
