London Songstress Frances Willow Relishes in Atmospheric Pop of New Single 'Anna Banana'
It’s been something of a whirlwind six months for indie/alternative singer/producer Frances Willow. Having spent years honing her sound into the exquisite blend of acoustic and electronic that it is today, the industry wasted no time in sitting up and paying attention to the London-based songstress.
Indeed, having already performed at plenty of notable venues in her hometown already, including the likes of The Water Rats, Paper Dress Vintage and Old Blue Last, it’s clear she’s doing something right. Don’t believe us? You need only look as far as forthcoming single ‘Anna Banana’ to see what we mean.
Four and a half minutes of subtly shifting textures, icy electronics and understated guitar, there’s echoes of artists such as Frou Frou or Imogen Heap at play within the composition, making something that feels familiar, but also utterly contemporary.
First starting life as teenage lyrics following an argument with a high school friend, it wasn’t until the pandemic that the foundations laid long ago began to really take shape. Now after multiple reworkings and reworkings, Willow settled on a sound that will soon be synonymous with the singer-songwriter, and ‘Anna Banana’ is the very first taste of said sound.
