On Friday, London-based experimentalists Kinkajous, led by drummer / producer Benoît Parmentier and saxophonist Adrien Cau, will release their new album Nothing Will Disappear via Nottingham’s Running Circle label. Ahead of the album's release, the band are sharing one final taster of things to come in the form of new single 'Pulses'

Of their new single, the duo say:

"‘Pulses’ is the most direct track we’ve ever written. It’s driven by a rhythm that we couldn’t shake, building nail-biting tension through powerful synths and echoing beneath the skin. Every beat is meant to pull you deeper."

The forthcoming album Nothing Will Disappear is a whirling dreamland of electronic orchestrations and instrumental sensibility. It presents maximalism at its most subtle and tender – ambient music at its most rejuvenated. Joined by Jack Doherty on synths/ keys, Andres Castellanos on bass, alongside the formidable strings of Alan Keary, Nothing Will Disappear is cinematic to the last second.

Made up of bruised electronics that go back-to-back with compulsive drum patterns in a strobe-lit dance; their forthcoming album sees Kinkajous move into new territories, as it has echoes of Sam Shepherd’s collaborative work with Pharoah Sanders as Floating Points, and the subtle timbre shifts of Jon Hopkins and James Holden more so than their capital-“J” jazz contemporaries.

The philosophies behind Nothing Will Disappear touch on the profound nature of human experience, the lasting impact of every action, anxiety and uncertainty versus interconnectedness and community. But there’s no pretention; it’s a record of documenting the turbulence of being alive rather than offering solutions, comfort or concern. And, from this framework erupts the limitless possibilities of their music for music’s sake, freeing the album to explode into hundreds of different shapes.

“With our previous record being quite dark and introspective, we wanted to escape into a different space with this music,” explains Parmentier. “We wanted it to be more colourful, more driven, whilst pushing towards the edges of fragility and vulnerability.”

Nothing Will Disappear marks a step-up from the band’s previous work, the work which pushed them into sell-out headline shows at London’s Jazz Café and King’s Place, alongside a gargantuan collaboration last winter with the London Contemporary Orchestra at London’s EartH Theatre, and performances at Bluedot and EFG London Jazz Festivals. In addition to this, their previous two studio albums garnered critical acclaim from tastemakers such as Gilles Peterson, BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6, The Vinyl Factory, Bandcamp and more.

Now the group return with an album more marauding and curious than any other music in the Kinkajous catalogue, revelling in new sounds rather than lamenting the excesses behind its theme. It stands mellifluous and rich and is vulnerable and bursting with colour.
