Liverpool’s Centerfold share single ‘Last Dance’

Centerfold unveil their new single “Last Dance” ---- listen HERE. The track previews their eagerly anticipated debut EP. “Last Dance” is the first single off that EP.

“Last Dance” marks a new turn for Centerfold. Departing slightly from their first singles “Rewrite Your Time” and “Changing World”, “Last Dance” explores a more mature musical landscape with lyrics discussing the insecurity of being in a failing relationship. Sonically, the song pulls from a wide array of influences; from the ambient soundscapes of Radiohead and Karnivool to the hard-hitting riffs and breakdowns of Rage Against The Machine and Royal Blood. The song opens with a haunting guitar riff from Ciaran Gaffney, creating an atmosphere of sorrow and discomfort which lays the groundwork for Josh Stevenson’s vocals discussing the insecurity and discomfort around a failing relationship. Stevenson’s soaring high notes at the end of the track are perfectly supported by the thunderous drums of Jamie Munns and the intricate melodic sensibility of Tom Proudlock’s basslines.

Centerfold have said “We feel like this is the beginning of a new era of the band. We love the first two singles and we are incredibly proud of them, but this really is the music we wish there was more of. We love exploring different musical landscapes, and we feel like we’ve landed in a spot which combines the elements of the music we love. Most rock and metal music of recent years, and even going back decades, feels two-dimensional. We want to create something three-dimensional and we feel that we’ve done this with the upcoming EP”. The recent addition of Tom Proudlock to the band has marked a change in visual and musical aesthetic with the band saying “Tom just brings the energy that we have needed for a while; and we feel like an incredibly strong unit now”.

Centerfold are a modern rock band from Liverpool taking inspiration from artists such as Rage Against The Machine, Muse and Royal Blood. They have been making a dent in the Liverpool music scene with their high energy gigs and technical prowess.

The band was formed in early 2023 as friends in university. They bonded over their love of a wide span of musical genres, predominantly rock and metal. They became disenfranchised with the modern rock and metal scenes and felt like the music they wanted to listen to wasn't being created. Within the first few sessions, the band found that there was a chemistry that none of them had experienced before, and decided to start writing intensely. Announcing their formation in May 2023, the band worked on their artistic identity, combining those of the artists they looked up to.

They released their first single 'Rewrite Your Time' on the 29th September 2023, which got substantial air play on major radio stations across the world, including a prime time play on Planet Rock radio with Wyatt Wendels. It received critical acclaim, being described as "crackling with raucous garage rock energy that intermingles with the slick sensibilities of blues rock and the pure catchiness of alternative rock to conjure up something infectious yet just a little rebellious".

The band quickly started to gain notoriety around the Liverpool music scene with their raw energy performances giving all of themselves on stage. To see their next performance, go to the events tab for full details and ticket links.
