Let’s stretch with Flowers of Evil’s new workout banger: Out Of Bed

Manchester-based Flowers Of Evil (Oscar Puente, Phia Sky, Ted Booth) is an LGBTQ+ art-pop outfit, mixing romantic flavours with industrial beats and irresistible hooks to create a playful soundscape. Add their campy theatrics into this equation and you find yourself captured by their flamboyant aesthetic and upbeat presence. Since their formation in 2020, the group has taken great pleasure in collaborating with fellow artists from the queer community and beyond, their new 2023 summer single being no exception.

It’s time to stretch with their new track Out of Bed - after the group decided the song needed a chant, they got new DIY Manchester punk icons The Strangerz involved. The group recorded everything themselves in Phia’s bedroom; self-producing both tracks and eventually enlisting fellow Manchester artists Super Market for mixing duties.

Prepare yourself for an 80s (that is 2080s) workout soundtrack. Set in a future where the Flowers of Evil are gold medalists in getting out of bed, the new single combines urgent hyperpop grooves with an infectious call to action. Out of Bed races onto streaming platforms on 14th July, alongside top secret B-side Cooldown! featuring samples of Phia Sky’s beloved cat Pizza.

Flowers of Evil have played a variety of iconic musical institutions in their home city including Deaf Institute, YES and Academy 3 opening for the likes of: Iamnotshane, Banji, Psymon Spine. Following their last release Cherry-AID (feat. Nikki & the Waves) they received airplay from Amazing Radio, Steam Radio and many more.

As well as performing and recording as a group, they have kickstarted their wider community project Evil Things; showcasing the best of the LGBTQ+ grassroots at their events and even launched a new podcast series called Evil Chat.

The single will be celebrated with a release party and biggest headline show to date on July 21st at Off The Square in Manchester.

Come and join the Flowers of Evil universe this summer - they won’t be slowing down any time soon!
