LEITH ROSS
Announces debut album ‘To Learn’
+ release of new single ‘Guts’ OUT NOW

“This debut record o’ mine was written during a couple of major changes in my life. It’s about going through big transitions. Moving, losing, and making friends, deep hurt and betrayal, real and steadfast love, and the years in which I felt like I was truly growing up and becoming something different. Mostly it’s about learning. About myself, about the world, about people, about love. The kind of love I want to foster and nurture until my dying day. To live is to learn and to learn is the best. At least that’s the gist of it.” – Leith Ross

Today, buzzing Winnipeg singer, songwriter, and artist Leith Ross (They/Them Pronouns) reveals their highly anticipated debut album To Learn is set for release on May 19th. To celebrate the exciting announcement, they drop their most personal and meaningful song to date, “Guts.” Listen to “Guts” HERE, pre-order/pre-save To Learn HERE, and learn more about “Guts” in Leith’s own words below.

Leith says, “This song is about the times in my life that I have been sexually assaulted/experienced any kind of sexual violence, and the ways that the people in my life have let me down after those events occurred. When I wrote it, it was to give myself permission to feel the whole range of emotions that started to consume me. It has a lot of rage, hurt, defeat, betrayal, and even forgiveness. I hope it can be helpful.”

Leith Ross (they/them) is a singer-songwriter and performing artist born and raised in the outskirts of Ottawa, Ontario. Struck by a culmination of inspiration sourced from their Celtic roots, and potentially the Highschool Musical series, Leith Ross is a vessel for their very own distinctive musical style.  As a young person, songwriting quickly became Leith’s most dependable method of processing their identity and lived experiences. Ross’ music is raw, vulnerable and often received with a deep sense of catharsis. As they transition into the next phase of life, Leith Ross is using their new music to dive deeper into themes of identity, finding a sense of self, and growing into understanding one’s relationship with the world around them.

Leith burst onto the scene last year with viral TikTok 'We'll Never Have Sex' - amassing 40k meaningful creations with fans sharing heartfelt experiences of relationships and sexuality - Troye Sivan even covered the song on socials. Leith went on to sign with Republic/Polydor Records releasing the track on DSPs which went on to enter the UK Spotify Viral 50 (Top 20) and amas over 35 million global streams.

UK editorial playlisting included: Spotify (Our Generation, Sad Songs, Online Juice & !!!) Apple (Catching Feelings), Amazon (Stay Indie, DV8). Leith garnered strong early radio love with 17 plays from BBC Radio 1. They also supported Andy Shauf on the entirety of his EU/UK tour last year and embarked on their debut headline tour in North America.

"It's easy to see why Leith's appeal would be so universal, with their graceful songwriting recalling Phoebe Bridgers or Clairo in its hushed intimacy” - CLASH Magazine
