"If Bruce Springsteen took a wrong turn at the New Jersey Turnpike and ended up joining a gang of chain-smoking bikers, he might sound a little like Seattle’s Dead Bars." – Seattle Weekly
“Dead Bars have a good pop hook with a bunch of bashing and screaming over it; what’s not to like?” – Jack Endino (Nirvana / Mudhoney producer)
Vocalist John Maiello About The Track And Video:
“Lyrically, ‘Hidden Track’ serves as a reminder that there might be something beautiful waiting for you if you keep listening, keep trying and keep dreaming even when you think you’re at the end.”
“The night before Thanksgiving is the biggest party night of the year. Most people have off of work and school the next day so people go extra crazy. Some refer to this day Blackout Wednesday, but the real heads just call it amateur night. Dead Bars have taken this day back for the last couple years while honoring their service industry colleagues by throwing their annual hometown thanksgiving eve party appropriately titled Amateur Night. The Hidden Track music video features footage from the first ever Amateur Night at Bar House in Seattle, WA in 2021. This track is two chords and the truth. Have fun, drink your drink, and imagine finding this song at the end of your favorite album.”
About Dead Bars
DEAD BARS began in Seattle when punk drummer John Maiello picked up guitar and started writing short blasts of no-bs-power-punk-rock in 2013. Soon after, NJ punk drummer C.J Frederick joined to play drums and guitar. They quickly recorded 6 songs which made their way onto an EP and split 7" on legendary No Idea Records in 2014. The next few years saw the two working and re-working their first album Dream Gig which finally came to life sometime in 2017, also on No Idea Records.
The next phase of the band introduced Jon Oddo from Kansas City on bass guitar. The three started making their next album Regulars which was released in 2019 on punk legends Anti-Flag's A-F Records. Shortly after, Elliot Thordarson and Paul Davis came in to fill out the lineup on guitar and drums respectively. The group continues to consistently release new singles and live material on their own label DEAD BARS RECORDS, as well as collaborations with friends Rad Girlfriend Records, Dirt Cult Records, Surfridge Records, and most recently the fine folks at Really Rad Records.
2023 marks the 10-year anniversary of the group and starts the next phase of the DEAD BARS story. The future is unwritten. The family is growing, and the universe is vast. Dead Bars are better than ever! Enjoy the ride! Dead Bars Forever!
