(14th August) Leeds-based Michael B Thomas has shared new single "Relationship Advice" - his first release via Mahogany Songs. The new song follows recent singles "Test Tube Baby" and "Skeleton On Strings (SOS)", released amidst a busy summer of touring and support dates with Chartreuse, Trudy & The Romance, Van Houten, Peter Martin and Anna Erhard. Tonight, Michael B Thomas supports Kipper Gillespie in London at the Sebright Arms.

The project of Leeds based musician Thomas Barr - known for his work as keys player for Eades - Michael B Thomas' work moves between shimmering indie-folk and lyrically poignant slacker indie-rock. With influences ranging from Elliott Smith and Alex G to Wilco and Sparklehorse, his music deftly toes the line between quiet intimacy and widescreen, breezy cinematic appeal.

Self-produced and recorded between Lachlan Banner (Van Houten) and Thomas' bedroom studios, before being mixed by Harry Jordan (Eades), new single "Relationship Advice" finds Thomas channeling the work of George Harrison - in particular his seminal 'All Things Must Pass' album.

Subtle, softly strummed guitars guide proceedings, bolstered by chiming piano chords - with Thomas zeroing in on self-healing and preservation in the face of modern social scrutiny: "Succumb to a sense of doubt / Project your problems onto someone else / This feeling / Oh is this just modern living"

Speaking on the release of new single "Relationship Advice", Michael B Thomas said:

"Through the haze of fading connections and the search for self-understanding, 'Relationship Advice' delves into the modern struggle of projecting insecurities and seeking clarity. I think I tried to poignantly capture the essence of not just myself navigating through my mid to late twenties, but also my friends and the different relationships that come and go within this time. It’s a time when many of us are unsure of what’s really going on, highlighting the necessity of self-healing before worrying about the future with someone else."

"I really tried to channel my inner George Harrison on 'Relationship Advice'. I was massively into his 'All Things Must Pass' album at the time of writing, and was inspired by the introspectiveness of this record. I feel ‘Relationship Advice' captures the essence of self-discovery and the inevitable passage of time, reflecting Harrison's influence on my journey through the complexities of modern relationships and personal growth."
