Today, Laurence-Anne, the captivating dream pop artist hailing from Montreal, announces the highly anticipated release of her third studio album, Oniromancie, scheduled to be released on September 8th, via Bonsound. Delving into the realms of night, dreams, and imagination, Laurence-Anne weaves hypnotic dream pop, cold wave, and synth-pop elements into a mesmerising tapestry, sung in English, French, and Spanish.

Accompanying this exciting announcement, Laurence-Anne also shares her enchanting new dark wave single, 'Politesse', wherein ethereal landscapes transform into haunting nightmares. Following the success of her bewitching track 'Polymorphe', released in March. New single 'Politesse' showcases a darker side of the artist, with a sound reminiscent of dark wave rather than dream pop.

Through the use of automatic writing, Laurence-Anne allows her subconscious to express itself through cryptic poetry, while the addition of soaring saxophone and clarinet sequences by Ariel Comtois and François Zaïdan intensifies the underlying sense of anxiety present in the song.

"Being a person of few words, automatic writing has always been a useful tool for me when working on lyrics, as it helps me to externalise and understand my emotions, fears, and needs," explains Laurence-Anne, reflecting on her writing process. "When I dream, I have this same type of interaction with my subconscious. Everything becomes clearer to me. 'Politesse' points to the end of something, to the clues that were there before my eyes when I kept them shut for too long."

Laurence-Anne is a master architect of the intangible, meticulously sculpting musical landscapes composed of haunting melodies, lush synthesisers, synthetic rhythms, and hazy textures, all enveloped by her voice, capable of invoking both comfort and anxiety. In her forthcoming album, Oniromancie, Laurence-Anne delves deep into the nocturnal world, effortlessly traversing the delicate balance between sweet dreams and paralysing nightmares. Collaborating with François Zaïdan in production, this album builds upon the foundation established in her previous releases, delving into even denser and darker territories while remaining true to her signature knack for crafting conceptual and immersive soundscapes.

Drawing from dream pop, synth-pop, cold wave, and experimental influences, Laurence-Anne meticulously crafts eleven distinct musical landscapes in Oniromancie. The result is a dreamy and intimate record, where she vulnerably opens up like never before.

Laurence-Anne first burst onto the Montreal music scene with great impact in 2019, with her critically acclaimed debut album Première apparition, securing a coveted spot on the Polaris Prize long list. She followed up with her Accident EP that showcased her expanding musical horizons, setting the stage for her second album, Musivision, co-produced by Félix Petit, which solidified her creative identity. Now, in September 2023, Laurence-Anne is poised to unveil Oniromancie, her most conceptual and evocative work to date.

Last month, Laurence-Anne embarked on a mini tour of the United Kingdom to perform at several music festivals, including Wide Days (Scotland), Liverpool Sound City (England) and Focus Wales, in addition to a show in London. Her previous single, 'Polymorphe', has received acclaim on some of the country's most influential radio stations, including BBC Radio 6 and BBC Scotland.
