KRIS BARRAS announces acoustic evening at Union Chapel

KRIS BARRAS ANNOUNCES SPECIAL ACOUSTIC EVENING AT LONDON'S UNION CHAPEL IN JANUARY 2025

KRIS BARRAS has announced a unique evening of unplugged material in the grandiose acoustic of the famous Union Chapel in London on Friday 31st January, 2025.

Union Chapel has hosted everyone from Opeth and Adele, to U2 and Ed Sheeran, and is the perfect setting for KRIS BARRAS BAND fans to enjoy an exclusive, extended set list of fresh unplugged arrangements of KBB material and more.

Kris will be accompanied by Josiah J Manning, his long-time collaborator and the co-writer/producer of latest album Halo Effect, for an extended evening of unplugged renditions unlike anything Kris has ever performed before.

During the intense campaign for Halo Effect, which hit #5 in the official UK album chart alongside Beyonce and Linkin Park, Kris and Josiah toured every corner of the UK performing acoustic sets in record stores. Together with a special edition of the new album with added unplugged material, these versions of the songs became cherished by the fans and by Kris himself.

Kris interjects, “Playing a venue as iconic as this is an absolute dream! I’ve always loved doing the stripped back, unplugged versions of my songs and this will be the perfect setting for a special, one-off show. For one night only, Josiah and I will be performing an extended, never-heard-before setlist of KBB tunes (and just maybe a little something else) arranged for piano, acoustic guitar, and voice for the incredible acoustic setting of the legendary Union Chapel.

We had such a blast meeting you all and performing in-acoustic at record stores during the Halo Effect album campaign, it really inspired us to want to put something extra special together. The unplugged versions of songs from Halo Effect seem to have developed a life of their own, so we’d really like to perform them for you this way one last time. Hope to see you there!"

These poignant, stripped-back versions helped to inspire Earache Records to put together a new compilation Piano That Rocks (released 23rd August). This will be the first time that piano versions of KRIS BARRAS BAND singles such as "Secrets", "Hourglass" and "Landslide" will be available on vinyl.

Kris’ relationship with acoustic material is long-standing, with his 2020 Covid lockdown "Box Room Sessions" lighting up YouTube. Then in 2022, when a support band pulled out at the last minute, Kris and Josiah even opened for themselves with an acoustic set on their headline UK tour!

ABOUT KRIS BARRAS BAND

One of modern hard rock's most exciting breakouts in recent years, KRIS BARRAS BAND bring all-new arena-sized grit to 2024. Their new album Halo Effect debuted at #5 in the UK official album chart on release in April 2024, rubbing shoulders with giants Beyonce and Linkin Park, as well as clinching #1 in the download chart, #1 in the independent chart and #1 in the rock and metal album chart.

Amplifying the heavier sound from their previous album Death Valley Paradise (which in itself saw four tracks added to Planet Rock's A-list playlist), Halo Effect delivers hard-hitting riffs, soaring choruses, and fuse-lighting technical solos. Now signed to independent label Earache Records, KRIS BARRAS BAND harness the twilight-lit melodies and stampeding force beloved by fans of Architects, Shinedown, and Alter Bridge.

After an almost-unbelievable career change from pro-MMA fighter of ten years to professional musician, Kris Barras cut his teeth in the international blues rock scene culminating in a frontman spot with supergroup Supersonic Blues Machine (featuring ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons). In the meantime, KRIS BARRAS BAND gravitated to a heavier sound that has sold-out tours with Black Stone Cherry, The Darkness, and Thunder at the likes of the Royal Albert Hall and Wembley Arena.

"'Halo Effect' still keeps the essence of what Kris Barras Band is: big riffs and even bigger choruses," offers Kris. "It's just that, this time, we’ve turned everything up to 11 and beefed it up!

KRIS BARRAS BAND comprises frontman Kris Barras, Josiah J. Manning on guitar, Billy Hammett on drums, and latest member Frazer Kerslake on bass.
