The New York City-based rock singer-songwriter Jesse Malin has released a brand new single entitled ‘Argentina’ today. The song is a snapshot of the time he has recently spent in that country’s capital city, Buenos Aires, receiving treatment for the paralysing spinal stroke he suffered in May 2023 that left him unable to walk.
“This might be one of my most personal songs,” says Malin. “It was written while I was in a clinic in Buenos Aires for six months, doing everything to keep my head up. A lot of the inspiration for it comes from the nurses, doctors and physical therapists, as well as a lost ring owned by a departed friend that was personally delivered to me by Jimmy G [Murphy’s Law] as a gift to keep fighting.”
Malin has also today announced that he will perform at the Kilkenny Roots Festival in south-east Ireland on 4th May 2025. "It’s years since I’ve been in Ireland,” he says. “I felt a real connection the first time I was there in the ‘90s. The audiences are some of the most passionate in the world.”
The festival date will follow Malin’s recently announced shows in London at Islington Assembly Hall (1st) and The Garage (2nd), at which he will be joined on stage by several special guests.
’Argentina’ follows hot on the heels of the acclaimed tribute and benefit album ‘Silver Patron Saints: The Songs of Jesse Malin’. Issued digitally in mid-September, the UK release of its physical formats is 8th November (3xLP) and 6th December (2xCD).
Produced by Diane Gentile and Dave Bason, the album features Bruce Springsteen, Billie Joe Armstrong, Lucinda Williams and Elvis Costello, The Hold Steady, Tommy Stinson, Alison Mosshart with the late, great Wayne Kramer, Tom Morello, Counting Crows, Dinosaur Jr., The Wallflowers, Spoon, Susanna Hoffs, Frank Turner, Rancid and more. All proceeds from the album go to Malin’s Sweet Relief Artist Fund. Long a contributor to other people’s causes, Malin is grateful to everyone who has participated on this record.

ROLLING STONE
“This record is a dynamite and long-overdue awareness project, non-stop star time in vigorously personal twists on behalf of a great rock & roll songbook,” writes longtime supporter and Rolling Stone magazine editor David Fricke. “Jesse Malin knows about scars, from his youth, observation and more. They all carry tales, and he's not done telling them. ‘Silver Patron Saints’ is the gang back at the bar, coming to the stage to toast the composer and his story so far."
Malin will return to the stage at the Beacon Theatre in New York City at the beginning of December for the biggest hometown shows of his career. A previously announced date on 1st December has already sold out, but an additional one on 2nd is on sale HERE with premium packages available via Sweet Relief.
Malin will perform a full set with his band, followed by special guests at each show that include Lucinda Williams, Jakob Dylan, Rickie Lee Jones, Butch Walker, J Mascis, Adam and David Immy of Counting Crows, The Hold Steady and Alejandro Escovedo. Further names are still to be announced.
