Jade Dust Release New LP a Day Early via No Echo
Jade Dust are back with an advance listen to their recently announced album that is officially out tomorrow (see No Echo premiere)...
Portland OR band, Jade Dust, started in 2019 when longtime friends, Rudi Jung (vocals, guitar) and Chris Duprey (guitar, vocals), began writing melodic hardcore in the vein of DC and Bay Area bands of the late 80’s and early 90’s. In 2016, before Jade Dust was formed, Rudi experienced a motorcycle accident which left him hospitalized for a while and his arm paralyzed. In the aftermath of the accident, Jade Dust became an outlet for Rudi to express everything he was dealing with as he wrote lyrics and learned to play guitar with one hand. In 2020, James Butch joined the band on drums and Raul Atencio joined on bass. The band recorded a demo that summer which was later released on cassette by Extinction Burst in the US and Sailin’ On in Europe in 2021.
On the heels of their demo, Jade Dust recorded again in February 2021. From this session, Extinction Burst released a 6-track 12” EP in fall 2021.
The “Wild Geese” 8 song 12” EP was recorded in the summer and fall of 2021 with Max Ono. It was released with Extinction Burst and Ebullition Records in 2022. Eric Himle did the art on this record as well.
Shaine Scarminach joined them on guitar in the summer of 2021 and began writing “Grey Skies”. He also played every show through the Fall of 2023. Grey Skies was recorded at Singing Sands in July of 2022. It was mixed and mastered by Jack Shirley at Atomic Garden in 2023. This eight-song 12” features 6 new songs and two covers. Eric Himle did the art on this record as well as the other two records. "Grey Skies" is coming out March 1st on Council Records, Extinction Burst, and GGT Records.
