Following the release of his new album Chaos Magic in November, today Jaakko Eino Kalevi kicks off the New Year with a bang with the release of a fantastic new remix of “Palace In My Head” by French powerhouse producer Fred Falke.

In his customary fashion, Falke transforms “Palace In My Head” into a modern high-energy masterpiece, complete with turbo-charged bottom end, a glistening topline revamp and an outrageous sax solo. The remix arrives alongside an extended club version – a neo-Italo floor-filler guaranteed to cure those winter blues.

Falke comments: “The vocals immediately reminded me of some kind of Italo synth vibes, and as I was thinking about the track I came up with this melancholic piano part that suited Jaakko’s melody perfectly. I quickly recorded that piano part on my phone, as I was staying in an old hotel in Ibiza that had a piano, and back in my studio I used that recording as a starting point to build the whole remix around it.”

Says Jaakko: “Fred Falke’s remix is pure geniusness! It definitely takes you somewhere else through space at the speed of light. High energy in perfect harmony!”

A chance introduction by a mutual friend in Jaakko’s new home of Athens led to the wonderful collaboration with French actress and singer Alma Jodorowsky on the original version of “Palace In My Head”. Writing the lyrics together for the exotic electro-pop track “was all very spontaneous and easy,” says Jaakko. It arrived alongside a dreamy video last year, directed by Alma and starring Jaakko and Alma.

Largely written and recorded in his new home of Athens, Chaos Magic also features pre-released singles “Drifting Away”, “Hell & Heaven” and “I Forget”. Plotting a thrilling course through the Jaakko universe, drawing on cosmic jazz, dub reggae, neon synthpop, tender ballads and space-rock nirvana, it features musical contributions from Jimi Tenor, Faux Real, Yu-Ching Huang and John Moods.
 
An album very much founded in the beauty of collaboration and, in Jaakko’s words, “a ‘back to the roots’ album”, Chaos Magic “is a collection of songs from a certain period without trying to tie them together”. Inspired by his new home and the Greek word kháos, “meaning an abyss or void that was created when Earth and Heaven were separated”, the eclectic, wondrous sounds of the album find beauty in the chaotic nature of the everyday.
