(15th November) –– London based Irish-Puerto Rican musician Jæd (pronounced: jade) today releases uncompromising new single "Sight Gas Went Uh" - the final taste of her debut album 'I Loved The Gauntlet And There Was No Other Way' - out 29th November on Irish label Delphi

Drawing from a maelstrom of influences: the psychedelic contortions of Yves Tumor, the vocal thrills of Kate Bush, the experimental noise-rock of Deerhoof and the glitched-out, electronic freefalls of Death Grips, Jæd's subjects matters are deftly captured through a singular lens, dispatched amidst freewheeling, snarling guitars, jagged drum patterns and spiralling vocal runs - in places finding bringing to mind the uncompromising, absorbing songwriting of Fiona Apple, Anna Calvi and Nadine Shah.

With latest album taste “Sight Gas Went Uh” - released today alongside an enthralling live performance video - Jæd tests the thin veil between pain and pleasure. as she puts herself on trial and holds herself accountable, with no small degree of courage, stepping into the shoes of another whom she has wronged, "Bashed missing blush best evening lady sure / My lips flooded colour, colour of my cock / Every swollen kiss stolen voice box a lump / I'd rather not feel parts not be loose tooth you touch."

Speaking on the release of her debut album later this month, Jæd commented:

“The album is a sort of jewel now. A beautiful decoration. The songs have been like the jewellery I have worn to walk through the difficult parts of life. I can celebrate being alive, and being somewhere different now. I’m not in that same place I was when I was writing these songs. It’s a process that’s alive: it’s still continuing, and will continue.”

Working with producers including Andy Ramsay (Stereolab, Kero Kero Bonito, Nilüfer Yanya) and Dilip Harris (King Krule, Mount Kimbie), Jæd's upcoming debut album 'I Loved The Gauntlet And There Was No Other Way' is a project born of extremes and warring impulses.

The album tracks the growth of an artist and woman in real-time. Seduction, isolation, trauma, investigations of jealousy, the corporeal body and negotiations with femininity: these are the volatile elements she ignites in her music, a conflicting, ever-changing reaction of experience and sound.

Jæd is the artist’s choice on the London live circuit, supporting the likes of Goat Girl, Micachu and Trupa Trupa, she is a regular at The Windmill, The George Tavern and Jaguar Shoes, and recently gained further traction with performances at Ireland Music Week and Music Cork, as well as Ritual Union Bristol and Cornwall's PLU Summer Camp.

Once seen live, Jæd is hard to forget. In her hands, the guitar is choked at the neck, tamed and mastered like a wild animal to yield a particular tone, while her voice – an instrument all of its own – is capable of incredible tenderness one moment, before taking on shades of desperation and defiance the next.

Jæd is the project of London based musician Jennifer Evans. To date, the project has received notable plaudits and support from The Line of Best Fit, The Forty-Five, Rough Trade, Nialler9 amongst others.

Jæd's debut album 'I Loved The Gauntlet And There Was No Other Way' is out 29th November via Delphi. New single "Sight Gas Went Uh" is out now.
