NASHVILLE, Tenn, - Americana jam band indie recording artist Ty StoneHawker (Stonehouse Entertainment) has announced the release of his original tune, “While You Are Gone."*The third single in StoneHawker's 2024 Waterfall Series of singles positioned as an early introduction to his full-length album (titled GAMBLIN' MAN due mid-July 2024), the recording paints a vivid and cinematic soundscape authentic to the songcrafter's imaginative and creative musical style catering to listeners with an eclectic taste for multiple genres. Slated for a May 24, 2024 drop date, “While You Are Gone" will be available via all major digital retail and streaming platforms. Written by StoneHawker, and produced by Mark “Mooka'' Rennick (Tom Waits Journey/Ufo/Bob Dylan/Gavin Bryars/Billy Prine), “While You Are Gone” (appropriately nicknamed "Cucumber") is a slow-rolling reminiscent love ballad expressing feelings for a woman defined as “cool as a cucumber” and “pretty as a swan."
“I fell head over heels with a free-spirit flower child; she enjoyed her freedoms while the rest of the world stood still in wait for her return; myself included," StoneHawker introduced. "Listeners will hear some John Prine and The Band influences in musical structure and production, and Tom Waits in harmonies.”
Akin to a captivating Grateful Dead opener, electrifying guitar ignites the track. Vibey guitar highlights portray the “butterfly” spirit of a blossoming magnetic infatuation while gentle banjo arpeggios juxtapose with hard-hitting chords in the verses to bring to life the soft beauty and intensity of a new love and hope. The folksy chorus emphasizes devoted patience; gospel vocals in the bridge convey a rhythmic shift.

Ty StoneHawker’s music is a vibrant tapestry of his personal experiences. From a groupie that followed jam bands in a 1978 lime green Volkswagen Microbus to becoming a popular radio personality (known as "Stoney" on 95.3 KPND) and sitting behind bars in a jail cell, his life story is as diverse as his music.
With a past both dark and fanciful, Ty's journey from turmoil to transformation has deeply influenced his musical artistry and affinity for the abstract. Drawing inspiration from an eclectic range of artists, he channels the psychedelic vibe of The Grateful Dead, the insightful lyrics of Bob Dylan, the energetic performances of Pearl Jam, the soulful melodies of Blind Melon, the classic sounds of Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Sturgill Simpson, Billy Strings, and his personal favorite, Phish. Ty’s deep admiration for songwriters like Ingrid Michaelson and Jack Johnson is evident in his lyrical craftsmanship.
