(16th August) London four-piece Keo - led by English/Irish brothers Finn and Conor Keogh - have today released new track "Crow".

The release of "Crow" follows a slot supporting Kings of Leon at BST Hyde Park earlier this summer, further cutting their teeth with recent live dates alongside Courting, bdrmm, Ugly, Enola Gay, Chappaqua Wrestling and more.

Recorded live to tape in March 2024 at 123 Studios in Peckham with Brett Shaw (Foals, Florence + The Machine), "Crow" is an arrestingly honest and emotional song, addressed to a family member in crisis: "I’d rather watch you and bleed / I’d rather cry over over me"

A soul-bearing exploration of familial love, despair and ultimately, hope - principle lyricist and lead vocalist Finn Keogh's impassioned, melodic songwriting is juxtaposed against a backdrop of mounting instrumental fury.

With core influences of Finn's ranging from John Martyn, to Jeff Buckley and Nick Drake, that quiet intensity can distinctly be heard within Keo's music, backed by a myriad of influences from the remaining members, including My Bloody Valentine, Swervedriver, Pixies, Radiohead, Ride, The Smashing Pumpkins - to name but a few.

Speaking more on the release of "Crow", Finn Keogh said:

"Crow’s lyrics share a perspective on time and recall the anxiety I felt when a loved one was suffering with cancer, whom is now thankfully clear of it. I’ve always been a spiritual person looking for meaning in everything. Sometimes, perhaps to the point of it being unproductive, in that I often see things as a sign of what’s to come. Crow is a recollection of the fear and pain I had at the time when they were ill, and now of being grateful for them being in the clear but still anxious that the illness may return."

Moving from Devon to London in late 2022, the Keogh brothers' musical origins can be traced back to their time spent touring the UK, Ireland and the US in their Waterford-born father’s traditional Irish folk project. Now, the band, completed by drummer Oli Spackman and guitarist Jimmy Lanwern are rapidly making a name for themselves as one of the most exciting new live acts in the UK.

2024 has already been a year of highlights for Keo - a band still very much in their infancy - with notable headline and support slots across capital, alongside festivals appearances in Bristol and Nottingham for Dot To Dot Festival, Get Together Festival in Sheffield, Gold Sounds in Leeds, and a raucous Alternative Escape showcase in Brighton.

Next - Keo headline Windmill Brixton in London on 28th August, before slots at Neighbourhood Festival in Manchester and Left of the Dial Festival in Rotterdam this October.

Keo's new single "Crow" is available to stream on YouTube and SoundCloud. Keo are: Finn Keogh (vocals, guitar), Conor Keogh (bass), Oli Spackman (drums) and Jimmy Lanwern (guitar).
