Announces new EP Grip for 3rd Nov
“Spin Change” out now
Plays Hackney’s The Glove That Fits 26th Oct

Following the release of her hypnotic EP River last year, today, electronic producer Hannah Thurlow announces her new EP Grip – due for release 3rd November.

Alongside the announce today, Hannah also releases the gloriously beat-driven “Spin Change”. Created through experiments with field recordings and sampling live drums to create off kilter rhythms, it illustrates Hannah’s evolution as an artist as she explores the beautiful intricacies of percussion and rhythm. “Listening to many different types of music whilst out in clubs has been a huge influence for me,” she comments. “I wanted to keep the track quite raw and keep some of the live recorded elements buried underneath. It was a great release for me to work on this record, making sounds that I love.”

Recorded this summer in between London and Paris, Grip is a blissfully warm sonic journey filled to the brim with experimental beats and percussive patterns. From the tantalising sounds of EP opener “Plate” to the emotive vocals laced through finisher “Aspect”, it’s the sound of an artist very much confident in her craft. “Grip came at a time when I had been going to a lot of live hardware shows and club nights,” Hannah says. “The sun was shining. This translated into the music and I discovered the joy in the randomness of modular and drum machines so interesting. I’m excited to see what comes next on this journey.”

Hannah will play a show at Hackney’s The Gloves That Fits on 26th Oct. Tickets on sale now from here.

Born in Ireland, London based musician and producer Hannah Thurlow spent her youth in Bristol, England skateboarding and playing guitar in local bands. Influenced by the diverse west country music scene: drum n bass, Portishead, Massive Attack, and heavy metal. Diverse influences that can be heard in her music today. In her teens, she picked up her first synths and became fascinated by the world of modular and vintage synths.

From 2010-2015, Hannah fronted the band 2:54 with her sister, Colette. The band released two albums: the self-titled 2:54 (2012) on Fiction in the UK and Fat Possum in America and The Other I (2014), released by Bella Union. Working with producers such as Rob Ellis (PJ Harvey, Anna Calvi) and Alan Moulder (Depeche Mode, Arctic Monkeys), Hannah’s CV also includes joining Nick Zinner (Yeah, Yeah, Yeah’s) at The Royal Festival Hall in London to perform his symphony, 41 Strings, composing scores for global Nike campaigns and original compositions for Vivienne Westwood at Paris Fashion Week. Last year she also set up the regular London-based club night Eterna with fellow DJ Herberta.
