Halflives Announce New EP Inferno To Release June 30th

With the biggest year of their career so far under their belts in 2022, including huge tours and almost 10 million streams on Spotify alone and their latest single "EVERYTHING SUCKS" proving another huge success, Halflives are delighted to announce their brand new EP, Inferno, will release on June 30th 2023.

A five track collection of fired up, energetic alt/pop rock anthems, Inferno is the culmination of over a years' worth of work from Linda Battilani. The transition of Halflives from a band to Linda's solo project is completed with the release of Inferno. Inferno was produced and mixed by Jack Wilson, with mastering done by Grant Berry of Fader Mastering. Photography for the various photos used to promote Inferno and the singles from the EP was done by Fre Perez.

Alongside the current single, EVERYTHING SUCKS, Inferno also features three other Halflives singles released over the last year - everybody knows it, sorry mom x and Dynamite, and one new track, Oblivion. The singles from Inferno have featured extensively on major outlets such as Kerrang, Rock Sound, BBC Radio 1 and many more, with worldwide radio support for all of the singles so far. The full track listing and artwork (created by Lucy Moir) for Inferno can be found below.

To learn more about Inferno, we hand over to Linda to tell the story:

"Inferno is my personal descent to hell, a collection of my demons wrapped up in 5 songs. Fire has been a big part of the Halflives imagery going all the way back to the debut album Empty Rooms, and it ultimately led me to have it as the main character of this era. Each song is as honest as it can be. This EP saw no constraints in terms of songwriting and lyric writing, it’s the most unfiltered version of me you have heard so far. Raw feelings and emotions that burnt me like a fire leaving me scarred forever.

One song in particular stands out from the others - Oblivion. The only track that’s not out yet, and probably the only track that doesn't relate to fire with the visuals. At first when I wrote it I didn’t see Oblivion being a part of the EP. I actually didn’t see it as a Halflives song at all as it sounded so different from what I’ve usually been writing. But when my producer Jack Wilson heard it, he told me there was something special about that track, and I knew deep down he was right. So, as I said, there were no compromises in this EP, if something sounded right and it felt natural or spontaneous, then it was the right thing to do. And that’s when I decided Oblivion had to be a part of this descent to hell. The final hit of this emotional rollercoaster.

I celebrate Inferno as a personal growth both as an artist and for my mental health as I don’t care anymore about other people’s judgment about my art, I don’t care anymore about pre-constructed “strategies” of what I should or should not say or sound like. It’s my way of saying "fuck it all". I was actually my worst enemy in terms of songwriting as I was creating boundaries and constructing walls when I was writing. Turns out there are no boundaries or limits to art, and if it’s what sounds natural to me, then it is it’s what I’m gonna do, as it’s burning inside me like fire. So yeah, here’s to raw and true emotions!"

On the current single from Inferno, EVERYTHING SUCKS, Linda Battilani's songwriting has this time produced a bass driven track full of defiance. With yet another chorus destined to become stuck in the heads of listeners for days and weeks to come, Halflives brand of alt pop/rock shows more versatility on EVERYTHING SUCKS, while always containing those enormous hooks Linda has become so well known for. Check out the video for EVERYTHING SUCKS here:

Inferno's previous single, "everybody knows it", sees Linda Battilani reflecting on the climate crisis and the behaviour of people the world over. It's a song full of powerful messages, wrapped in the huge melodies, soaring hooks and earworm forming riffs that have become the Halflives trademark over the last few years. A song that has proven hugely popular with fans and has been Halflives most successful track on radio so far, you can check out the video for everybody knows it here:
