Greek Alt-rock outfit Popscene release emotive new single
New Single "Toil and Trouble" to be released March 2023
Popscene is pushing the limits of today's alt rock, and have traveled all over Greece to communicate their sound. With over 4 years of stage experience and a sterling admiration for the 70's, Popscene combined their varied backgrounds on their first born album "Limousine Eyelash" in December of 2021.
The new single, "Toil and Trouble" is a conceptual track that derives its influence from Shakespeare's Macbeth. According to the band, "Its assertively emotional lyrics combined with the raw, yet theatrical music, capture the essence of our values".
The song fully describes the complexity of toxic relationships. It's prominent contradiction between the overexposed and fragile lyrics and the overpowering, almost aggressive music, perfectly explains it. For this exact reason, the band relates it to Macbeth's relationship with his wife. It was this play, combined with their personal experiences, that inspired the song to begin with. Abiding to a specific genre was never a concern for Popscene, and "Toil and Trouble" is a primary example.
