Grace Calver doesn’t write love songs but if she did then it would be called “Hotter Than The Sun”
Grace Calver's dazzling new single 'Hotter Than The Sun' is set to be released on 31st May 2024.
In writing this love song, Grace offers a unique take, steering clear of the ordinary. This song captures true-to-life moments—dancing in the kitchen, singing along at full volume on road trips, and cherishing someone who brings laughter.
The first line, "I’ve met someone who makes my heart beat faster, makes me think life isn’t a disaster," references her EP from last year titled 'My Life and Its Disasters'. This second single from her 'Crush Era' marks a departure from the disaster zone, at least for now.
Grace has aimed to encapsulate the essence of summer in a song, even going so far as to record real-life birdsong outdoors. With a tropical funky bass, a sun-kissed mellow guitar solo, and hints of cowbell and kalimba, this track is poised to become the soundtrack of the summer.
Influences for this song include Declan McKenna, Weezer, Alfie Templeman, Lily Allen, and Kate Nash.
The track was produced, mixed, and mastered by Jake Day at North Acre Studios.
As a DIY musician, Grace also created the artwork, aiming for a “summer of love” vibe with a groovy retro style.
