GLIMTVIS confesses sins and longings from the roads on a new full-length album – written with award-winning American songwriters in Nashville
GLIMTVIS's new album, The Nashville Confessions, was written in Nashville and will be released on September 13, 2024.
On September 13, GLIMTVIS will release their first full-length album, The Nashville Confessions. An album containing 11 strong songs that were created in Nashville over the course of 10 days in February 2024. Together with 12 renowned songwriters, GLIMTVIS has put into words the longings, the uncertainty, the lack of grounding, rootlessness, but also deep happiness that life on the road brings.
The collaboration with the American songwriters began with a small phrase: "... if you guys ever come to Nashville, we should write!" A phrase that GLIMTVIS was met with by the same songwriters during the Nashville Nights festival in Odense. And after brief consideration, GLIMTVIS took the songwriters at their word, threw adult-sense overboard, booked two plane tickets, and called them up with the message: "Guess what, we’re coming to Nashville!" Not long after, GLIMTVIS found themselves in The Music City, working on writing the album, The Nashville Confessions.
The album has taken its theme from the carnival-like life one leads as a musician and songwriter. The choices and sacrifices that come with it. The uncertainty. The longing. But also the sense of happiness from making a living of what you are passionate about – and cannot live without.
The focus track and opening number, "Is Anybody Missing Me," was written in collaboration with singer and songwriter Cheley Tackett and confesses the thought and crushing doubt one can have on the dark road in the early hours of the morning: Is there anyone who misses me at home...?
On The Nashville Confessions, the sound of GLIMTVIS has become more dusty and rootsy than usual, and the lyrics has borrowed a bit from American Americana and country – but the good melody and clear hook lines are still in focus – and as usual, with two strong vocals in front and in close harmony with each other.
With the idea that this album should be transatlantic and connect Nashville and Denmark, GLIMTVIS has used both Danish and American producers, and the album has been recorded in Odense, Aalborg, Esbjerg, Aarhus, Norway, AND Nashville.
The two very skilled and renowned top producers Eric Torres (No.1 Nashville producer, Grammy-nominated for Jamie Johnson's *Black and White* album, 2 times number 1 on the American Country Billboard 100, producer for Ashley McBride, etc.) and Ryan Rossebo (Jericho Rose, Leanne Pearson, Justin Bryan, Hudson Valley, etc.) have produced 4 of the album's tracks – recorded in Nashville with highly respected and award-winning American studio musicians.
Additionally, GLIMTVIS has teamed up with a group of fantastic Danish musicians and two well-regarded Danish producers, Lucas Illanes (Mike Andersen, Dissing, Las & Cross, WHO Killed Bambi, etc.) and Jakob Eilsø (The White Album, Kajsa Vala, etc.).
All of it was recorded and produced over 2 months in the summer of 2024.
The songs on the album were written by GLIMTVIS together with award-winning and renowned songwriters: Blue Foley, D. Vincent Williams, Noah Smith, Matthew Douglas Simpson, Lee Tucker, Dan Smalley, Robert Miller, Matthew Rogers, Kensie Coppin, Cheley Tackett, Kinsey Rose, and Michael Lusk.

WHO IS GLIMTVIS?
GLIMTVIS writes songs that navigate the schizophrenic borderline between shameless pop, brutally honest country, and with hints of rock's unpolished voice. Their vocals and harmonies draw references to Fleetwood Mac, Civil Wars, and Common Linnets, while the arrangements and instrumentation may remind you of Lenny Kravitz, The Picturebooks, and The Cardigans. This results in their own distinct and recognizable Glimtvis sound.
GLIMTVIS consists of Rikke Egholm Ravn and Rasmus Pedersen—two experienced musicians who should have found their place in adult life but struggle with it—the whole "adulting" thing and everything one is supposed to have figured out. This turns into personal, relatable songs they want to share with others who might also struggle with the concept of "supposed to." Their songs give a rarely heard voice to the things you grapple with when you've lived a life.
