Glasgow's Possibly Jamie Channels Pop Heros on Latest Single ‘Antisocialite (going to parties)’

Pre-Save

Possibly Jamie is a pop songwriter and producer from Glasgow. A self-taught producer, he has gleaned inspiration from his upbringing in classical music to boundary-pushing electronic music by artists such as Charli XCX, FKA twigs and, crucially, Bjork - his name coming from her 1995 song "Possibly Maybe."

Jamie finally released his first official single in the peak of 2020 coronavirus lockdown after years of experimenting with electronic sounds as well as performing in choirs and a cappella groups. He has only expanded his ambitions as a writer and producer since then, and has been slowly but surely building up the Possibly Jamie Cinematic Universe, one track at a time.

Antisocialite (going to parties)’ is the forthcoming single from Possibly Jamie, and is inspired by social media’s effects on people’s limited attention spans, the song tells the story of an obsessive crush through distinct, short sections and a repeated central hook. While it traces the events of a drunken evening — everything between the calm-before-the-storm dancing and crying in bathrooms and stumbling home — it’s cleverly done through DIY pop sounds influenced by the aforementioned likes of Charli XCX and FKA twigs, alongside greats including Kate Bush and Tori Amos.

Much of Jamie’s percussion also came originally via beatboxing and then masterfully processing the drumming noises. The final piece you hear now crescendos with its latter EDM-esque beat drop, which deftly replicates that hedonistic euphoria of thumping music in a sweaty club environment.

Jamie’s fanbase is ever-evolving thanks to TikTok and other platforms, so you can bank on there being much more in the pipeline to wrap your ears around.
