Alcopop! Records (with the kind permission of Best Before Records) are beyond delighted to announce the first ever vinyl pressing of Glasgow fight-pop pioneers Dananananaykroyd’s seminal 2009 debut album Hey Everyone!, set for release on 6th December 2024.

The album comes with a gorgeous spot gloss sleeve, extra design flavour by original artist Keaton Henson, and a bonus track 'Genuine LBS', all presented on very limited ‘Pink Sabbath X Black Wax Splatter’ vinyl (never to be repressed in this colour).

A truly classic record, this is absolutely peerless Fight Pop—“liable to unite moshers and librarians” said a deeply impressed Pitchfork at the time. Let's party like it's 2009.

Commenting on the release, label boss Jack Clothier said: “You know when one of your favourite albums of all TIME isn't on vinyl, so you just want to make it happen, right…? That's one of the reasons—amidst all the metadata and the invoices to pay—that running a record label is the most wonderful craft in the known f*cking universe. I haven't told them this, but just SPEAKING to David of Dananananaykroyd was an absolute honour. The fact that he and the gang were up for chucking this solid gold encrusted body of work into our palms and trusting us to supplant it to wax, with the help of original artist Keaton Henson and pens-person extraordinaire Rhi Lee, was even more incredible.”

“There are albums that shape you. Albums that live with you. Albums that make you who you are. Change your life. This is one of those records. When we were growing up, in the record label sense, and we realised that this thing might actually work—that our tender Alcopop! lemon might bear fruit—I made a little list in my head of the six bands I wanted to work with more than anyone in the world. Dana have just ticked off number 5, and we could not be happier. So, please listen to this album. I don't care if you buy it or not (on delicious pink sabbath X black wax vinyl with glorious spot gloss). Just listen, take a deep breath and find yourself in 2009—when Fight Pop, for a brief and beautiful moment, really did rule the world.”

Glasgow’s Dananananaykroyd released their vital and long-awaited 2009 debut to a raft of press and radio love at the time, with hit single ‘Black Wax’ supported by Zane Lowe, Steve Lamacq, Huw Stevens, Colin Murray, and Nick Grimshaw at BBC R1, along with wider plays from Radio X, NME Radio, Q Radio and more.

Oft-compared to luminaries and precursors like Fugazi, Pavement, Glassjaw, Sonic Youth, and Blood Brothers, and mentioned in the same breath as post-hardcore greats and the iconic Dischord Records, their live shows and records regularly garnered rave reviews.

Bursting with energy, ideas, character and melody, Hey Everyone! throws together every known genre of music, pushing way past their previous moniker of ‘Fight Pop’ into wonderful new heavier, lighter, odder territory in equal measures. The band rocket through a maze of spiky, pop tinged, punk/art rock anthems, at times with dizzying velocity and power.

Lead single ‘Black Wax’ slows the frantic pace down a notch, with its angelic chorus, use of piano, bells and gang vocals, before the rest of the album hurtles and thrashes its way along, constantly surprising and startling in equal measure.

Tours with Queens of The Stone Age, The Kaiser Chiefs, Foals, Johnny Foreigner and more followed, with appearances at Reading and Leeds Festival, T in the Park, and Splendour in the Grass cementing their place in the history books as one of the most exciting British bands of the late ‘00s, before their untimely demise in 2011 following second album There Is A Way.

Now, for the first time ever, fans old and new can experience the thrill of Hey Everyone! in glorious high fidelity, as it was always intended to be heard.
