Garage Punks PLASTIC PALMS set to release new album “Flip Haus” on May 17th via WWNBB

Anticipated by the explosive single HK, Flip Haus is the new EP by PLASTIC PALMS, an Italian-American band led by singer and guitarist Clarissa Ghelli, now in its third release out on May 17th via WWNBB Collective, which reconfirms the four-piece as one of the most interesting names on the international independent scene.

5 tracks that move freely on the coordinates that have written the history of overseas alternative music, in a concentrate of references widely metabolized and made their own. On the one hand, we find the lo-fi and slacker approach typical of Plastic Palms, who play to have fun and are to be taken bloody seriously in this. On the other hand, we recognize the lysergic roots of their music, the homage to underground paisley classics and to the fathers of American new wave, with the added boost of a female writing and vocals with a disruptive personality like Clarissa's, who whispers, screams, winks and seduces drawing inspiration from memories, impressions and moments of everyday life. In fact, each song arises spontaneously from a phrase jotted down as a quick placeholder in her notebook or a melody captured in the moment through an audio recording on her phone, while driving through the hills to work, food shopping at the grocery store or on walks with her dog. Once she returns home, accompanied by her guitar, she picks up the quick notes taken during the day and, quite naturally, the songs begin to take shape and become her friends.

This gives rise to the mischievous punk pop of Sunday Sauce, which depicts the carefree summers spent at grandma's in Tuscany, followed by the rough neo-psychedelic gem Clever, written to pay homage to the ex-zoo of Lungo Po Michelotti in Turin, culminating in the single HK, inspired by the band's recent trip back to the United States, captured through a hyperkinetic music video. The record ends with the art rock of Scan and Boccedrome, two hypnotic ballads mindful of Velvet Underground and Television, animated by surprising shifts in a garage direction.

Recorded live to reflect the honesty of a natural recording environment, Flip Haus showcases a genuine and immediate sound that, combined with the energy and dynamism of the arrangements, makes it an eclectic and structured work with which the band enters into full creative maturity.
