Light Grey release their highly anticipated new album ‘Nightmares’ today alongside a music video for the track ‘Overly Tired’.

The track serves as a powerful and deeply personal anthem, delving into the relentless battle with insomnia that has haunted the band's frontman. With its infectious guitar hooks, driving drums, and brutally honest lyrics, ‘Overly Tired’ stands out as a raw and unapologetic exploration of sleeplessness and its toll on mental and physical well-being.

"‘Overly Tired’ is the most personal song on the album," shares Light Grey. "Every word reflects the way my life is shaped by sleep problems—it’s a part of me. The upbeat tempo contrasts sharply with the dark theme, mirroring the way insomnia forces you to keep moving, even when you're drained and disconnected."

The track's lyrics paint a vivid picture of the exhaustion and frustration that come with chronic sleep deprivation:

"Wake up, smell the roses, they’re wilting they’re falling,
I drowned them, they’re lying, like myself I’m dying,
Live in a daydream just to see the same thing,
Over and over yeah you’ve got me feeling overly tired."

These lines capture the inner turmoil and cyclical nature of insomnia, where sleepless nights lead to restless days, blurring the lines between reality and daydreams. "'Overly Tired’ is both a lament and a battle cry," the band explains. "It's for anyone who's ever felt the weight of their own thoughts, where sleepless nights lead to daydreams that are just as unsettling as reality."

Recorded entirely at home, ‘Overly Tired’ came together quickly and naturally. A late addition to the album, it was born from a demo sent by Mikey, which instantly resonated with the band. "Even when we thought we were done with the album, this track popped up out of nowhere," Light Grey recalls. "It was clear that it had to be part of Nightm@res."

"This track is our personal anthem for anyone who's ever felt like a wilted flower in the morning—drained, aching, but still pushing forward," says the band. "The upbeat nature of ‘Overly Tired’ contrasts with its theme—it’s like pushing through a sleepless night, riding on adrenaline while feeling the weight of exhaustion."
