FRIENDS WITH BOATS release debut album "Bumper Sticker Poetry"

FRIENDS WITH BOATS released their debut album, Bumper Sticker Poetry, on 4th October 2024. Available digitally and in limited vinyl editions, the album’s three vinyl colour variants showcase the band’s love for 90s punk rock and their DIY spirit.

The band members have been friends for over 20 years, collaborating on various projects despite the geographical distance between Hannover, Germany, and Vancouver, Canada. Their latest creative effort saw nine of the album’s ten tracks come together in just a week, with the remaining song written within a few hours on 1st January 2022. This quick creative burst reaffirmed their long-standing connection, both personally and musically.

Bumper Sticker Poetry offers snapshots of their lives as bandmates and beyond, with the title track reflecting on life’s twists and turns. With short, direct lyrics, the album captures the raw essence of their adolescence while celebrating the journey they’ve shared through “smelly basements, sketchy stages, and transatlantic Zoom calls.”

The band’s formation itself started as a spontaneous moment—a New Year's Eve party in 2021. After deciding to meet the following day to test their musical chemistry, FRIENDS WITH BOATS wrote and recorded their first song within just four hours. The project blossomed from there, driven by their mutual love for 90s punk, emo, and hardcore bands like Samiam, Ten Foot Pole, and No Use For A Name.

Bumper Sticker Poetry is a heartfelt homage to the power of friendship and the love of music that transcends borders and distance. FRIENDS WITH BOATS are also taking their music stateside this autumn, with a performance at the sold-out Fest 22 in Gainesville, Florida.
