ABOUT “REDCOAT”
“Redcoat” is a hard rock reworking of a bluesy song written and recorded by Paul J Bolger in the mid-1990's on "The Moss House" album under the name BOLGER. It was a fun return to old territory as Steve Roche also played bass on the original. The song has been a favourite of the Forge Hounds team for a long time. So much so in fact the band decided to give it their own unique treatment.
This new arrangement expands on the original with Mick Wall's lead guitar taking over from the harmonica driven riffs of Mick Kinsella from the original. With Andy Kavanagh adding a stomping beat the new Redcoat also received a fresh middle eight with the slightly funky spoken word breakdown. All this leads to a big climax with the heroes of the song putting down their oppressors by whatever means they can.
It was recorded and engineered by Brendan Carthy at Orchard Studios, Enniscorthy and mixed and mastered by Frankie McClay at Einstein Studios, Antrim. The supporting video was shot at Electric Avenue in Waterford by Colin Shanahan of Digicol Photography and Media Productions. The video was directed by our very own Paul J Bolger, with the animation being created by PillarStone Productions.
BIOGRAPHY
Hailing from Waterford, Ireland, Forge Hounds is a new and exciting hard rock project that draws on influences from the likes of ZZ Top, Bad Company, Deep Purple, Thin Lizzy and Hanoi Rocks to deliver a BIG sound driven by lean and mean guitar riffs, compelling dual vocals and a pumping rhythm section.

Featuring veteran songwriters and musicians Paul J Bolger (Vocals, Rhythm Guitar), Mick Wall (Vocals / Lead Guitar), Steve Roche (Bass), and Andy Kavanagh (Drums), the members have shared the Stage with the likes of Horslips, Def Leppard, Brian Downey, Olly Murs, Eric Bell, Paul Di'Anno and Mama's Boys, while also having played on releases that were positively reviewed by 80's rock legends Jon Bon Jovi and Robin Crosby of Ratt.
