Folk trailblazers The Pairs share raw and driving single "Asleep"

Following their inception in 2016, The Pairs were warmly welcomed by their home community in London, ON.  Family is what ties The Pairs together. With soaring harmonies, they share stories of life’s hope, hilarity, and hardship.

Powered by three classically trained vocalists and a former punk rock drummer, The Pairs offer a unique blend of music that will hug your eardrums and inspire you to dance.  Their unique sound has brought praise from critics for bringing new ideas into the folk landscape.

On “Asleep,” the group brings a driving wall of sound with folk sensibilities, building valleys of emotive lyrics and instrumentation. The origin of the song comes from a helpless feeling of using sleep to cope through hard times.

“Asleep is about sleeping in. And not the blissful, cozy type of sleeping in. The type that makes you feel like the whole world is moving along and you’re being left behind. A potentially relatable song born out of the beginning of the pandemic, It’s about still wanting to matter and to care about showing up, but at the same time, just wanting to sleep.”
