Finnish Symphonic Doom Metal band INFIRMUM has released their sophomore album "From The Depths I Cried"

Finnish Symphonic Doom Metal band INFIRMUM has released their sophomore album "From The Depths I Cried". Early 2019 formed band has approached the genre in a unique and complex way. With a sound that explores aspects of classical music combined with the traditional weight and melancholy of Doom, they released their debut album "Walls of Sorrow" in 2020, followed by the EP "The Great Unknown" in 2022. In January 2023, they released the single "Sleep of Reason," which featured a music video. With the departure of vocalist Anna Rose in 2023, Brazilian singer Sabine Blodwin joined the band, bringing a new perspective from a different culture.

Guitarist and composer Timo Solonen tells about the album:

"Some of the album songs were actually ready already when we released our previous EP but we didn't have time to finish them at that point. So the path has been quite long with this album. Many songs were also left out of the album because we didn't want to do a double album this time. Maybe some of those will be released in the future. But we'll see how it goes.

Usually we start working with new material so that I make the raw version and send it to the rest of the band and then we start to arrange it as a band. We work mostly so that everybody does their parts by their own and luckily it's nowadays possible because band members live all around Finland.

People have been asking for a new album for a some time now. And here it is! I believe and hope that the waiting has been worth it.

We have plans to do live shows as soon as pieces come together with it. Live show is the thing in this kind of music.

As the album was in production we had a clear vision to give more room for cello and Elya nailed it. Erna's keyboards also play a big role and lift up the different mood on the songs. After Sabine came in the whole band took several leaps forward and tha fact that she comes from totally different culture brings wonderful twist to the band's sound. Myself and Hanska went to Juho Räihä's studio to test some ideas for the drum tracks and I really love Hanska's style on drums! Joonas also gave several new ideas to the songs that brought in some diversity that they needed."

INFIRMUM's music today can be described as profound and conflicted, exploring the darkest sides of human emotions, diving into the depths of madness, pain, sickness, and death, while still finding brief moments of hope, offering an atmospheric journey through the darkest corners of the human soul. Combining beauty and ferocity, their compositions are rich in textures and nuances with strong, reflective lyrics.

The current lineup includes Sabine Blodwin (formerly of Moonwitch, Draconian Opera, Pettalom) – Vocalist, Taka Eliel (Sanctuary of Hate) – Vocalist and Bassist, Erna Siikavirta (formerly in Lordi, Children of Bodom as session keyboardist, Sinergy as session keyboardist, Arthemesia and Deathlike Silence) – Keyboardist, Joonas Siikavirta (Begrim) – Guitarist, Timo Solonen (Grain of Pain) – Guitarist, Hanna-Leena “Hanska” (Mourning Wood) – Drummer, and Elya – Cellist.
