STREAM NEW EYESORE & THE JINX TRACK ‘DO WHAT YOU LOVE’ ON 05.05.2023

‘AN IDEAS MAN’ / ‘DO WHAT YOU LOVE’ 7” ALSO OUT ON 05.05.2023

LIVE DATES ANNOUNCED

Liverpool’s favourite fidgety trio return with new single ‘Do What You Love’ on 05.05.2023. The track also features on a 7” (also out on 05.05.2023) with previous single ‘An Ideas Man’. The single was recorded in the Summer of 2022 during Eyesore’s debut album session at Yellowbird Studio (Wirral) with producer and mixer Daniel Fox (Gilla Band) at the helm. This stand-alone self-released 7” is their first new material since 2020 and will be followed closely with album news. During Eyesore’s recent run of live appearances, ‘Do What You Love’ has proved itself to be more than just a B side with standout reactions from audiences new and familiar.

'Do what you love' is a song about the age-old bullshit phrase, "if you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life." Having been adopted by companies of all sizes in recent years, this phrase has become the motto of late capitalism's nadir, where our jobs continue to swallow our personal lives whole.
Josh Miller - Eyesore & The Jinx

Eyesore & The Jinx kicked off their 2023 live activity with an appearance at Dark Arts in Leeds in February alongside Egyptian Blue, Human Interest and Divorce, followed by a sold out headline show in Liverpool in March with Scott Lavene and Frog Dylan assisting them on support duties. A host of new tour dates have been announced, including a bigger Liverpool headline. They are also set to make their first trip across the Irish Sea with a headliner in Dublin amongst a bunch of UK dates in June and July.

Previous single ‘An Ideas Man’ was released in March after quite a big gap, picking up support from BBC Introducing, Steve Lamacq and Tom Robinson on BBC 6Music and was playlisted at Amazing Radio for 5 weeks. It also picked up editorial playlisting from apple, Tidal and Deezer and gained global blog coverage.

‘The Exile Parlour EP’ (their debut EP and last significant release) came out in the midst of the pandemic, which scuppered live plans across the UK and EU to support the release. It was recorded and promoted thanks to funding from PRS Foundation’s PPL Momentum Accelerator fund for Liverpool bands/artists. Eyesore were able to showcase their EP with a live online performance from a closed FUTURE YARD in Birkenhead in late 2020, which was viewed by over 1200 fans. A successful crowdfunding campaign led to a vinyl pressing of their EP, released by Eggy Records in January 2021.

They spent the latter end of 2021 and much of 2022 writing new material and tightening it up on stage with some choice gigs supporting acts like Bodega, Working Mens Club and DITZ. While the band stepped away from releasing music to continue songwriting and demoing, previous single ‘Leisure Time’ carried on picking up support behind their backs. After receiving a KEXP song of the day, BBC 6Music support and favourable features from Stereogum amongst others, it was more recently picked up by Shameless US (Showtime) and somehow managed to appear in a number of Spotify editorial playlists at the end of 2022.

2023 feels like a fresh start for the band, with lots of recorded music under their belts, this self-released 7” serves as just a taster of many things to come.
