It’s that time again to fire up your spreadsheet and break out those highlighters, End Of The Road has released the day and stage splits for its 2024 edition. Find them in full here
Throwing the arms of the festival wide open on Thursday on the Woods Stage is the inimitably cool Laetitia Sadier Source Ensemble, with music that takes a sophisticated approach to experimentation, the group's cosmic, genre-defying sound is the perfect open End Of The Road 2024. As the sun sets on Thursday, Bonnie “Prince” Billy will close The Woods stage with his haunting and melodic brand of Americana and folk.
On Friday, the Woods Stage will blast the best of politically fired-up punk - with Bristol boys IDLES promising a raging headline set, but not before Riot Grrrl legends Sleater Kinney set the mood. Saturday on The Woods will see shoegaze icons Slowdive as well as the shapeshifting electronica of Jockstrap, both best heard through the festival's biggest speakers. Sunday on The Woods stage will be brought to a close by the high theatrics of Fever Ray, a UK festival exclusive at End Of The Road for 2024.
The Garden Stage - an oasis of dappled light in the heart of the festival site - is beloved for the intangible magic that resonates through its beautiful surroundings. This year on Friday the stage will play host to the likes of Niger’s cult DIY hero Mdou Moctar, harpist Mary Lattimore and with Mercury Prize nominees Lankum headlining. The unmistakably rich croon of Sheffield legend Richard Hawley will cradle those in attendance into the late hours as he headlines The Garden on Saturday, while the stage comes to a close on Sunday with US indie auteurs Yo La Tengo.
The Folly Stage offers the chance to catch the very best in upcoming artists, with Nashville rockers Snõõper, Brighton firebrands Lambrini Girls, London goth-punks Heartworms and many more rapidly rising bands set to tread its boards. As well as this, The Folly hosts highly anticipated late night secret sets. Guaranteed to be a riotous affair, last year saw electric and freewheeling performances from the likes of The Mary Wallopers, PVA and Personal Trainer. More late night antics continue across the festival, with massive outdoor silent discos at The Garden, raves in the woods and a bonfire burning all night outside The Folly.
Renowned for championing boundary-pushing artists, End Of The Road provides a stage for artists of all sizes and sound. The Big Top, where you’re sure to witness headliners of the future and this year is no exception; Hot Wax, Militarie Gun and Water From Your Eyes are already promising to be festival highlights. The Talking Heads stage offers a home nestled in the woods for more subtle sounds such as experimental musician Clarissa Connelly and singer-songwriter Sam Amidon. The Boat Stage, a bastion for the truly experimental hidden deep in the forest is perhaps the festival's best kept secret of a stage, Jockstrap’s electric headline on The Boat for its debut year in 2022 saw The Guardian praise the show as “the best set of the festival”. This year sees the likes of Still House Plants, Nourished By Time, MC Yallah & Debmaster and The Tara Clerkin Trio play.
As well as a spectacular bill of music, End Of The Road 2024 plays host to the brightest and best from the worlds of Comedy and Literature. With the recently announced bill featuring comedians Janine Harouni, Fern Brady, Stewart Lee, Knightmare Live and Josie Long across the weekend, as well as authors and memoirists Richard King, Marchelle Farrell, Joe Boyd and Simon Raymonde set to give fascinating talks about their work.
And as ever End Of The Road promises a plethora of secret and special shows across the weekend.
