Emotional hardcore trio prom to release title track from their upcoming debut LP ‘From The Wayside’ on 12th September, with the album out via Sugar-Free Records on 8th November

“Between the frenetic drumming & the edgy riffs, there is a real purpose and energy here that most bands fail to capture even with double the time. A pulsating shot in the arm for those short on time.” - Chord Blossom
From The Wayside
encapsulates the raw energy of alternative rock of the 90s and hardcore, with a touch of modern production. Private Room stands out for its slower tempo, allowing listeners to immerse themselves in the dark and emotional atmosphere that the band has created.” - Punkeando

“Superb alternative rock, aggressive, sensitive, dramatic & melancholic.” - Rockola Indie

“I could really feel the energy emanating from the song. I believe witnessing this band perform live would be an incredible experience.” - Starttrack

Brighton’s most exciting DIY emo outfit prom are set to release their debut album ‘From The Wayside’ this November, and are dropping the title track on Thursday 12th September. Having hit over 1000 streams in just a week with the lead single from the record ‘Private Room’, the band have been gaining traction and building hype for more new music. Follow up single ‘From The Wayside’ is one of few songs on the record that focuses mostly on Jack’s angelic voice, taking the listener on a journey of discovering what this record is going to be mostly about. The band adds - “That” being self-discovery and the importance of not letting loathing get the best of you. The track instrumentally jumps between soft shoegaze passages to sections filled with hardcore and emo driven angst.

Following a strong reception of both their debut EP in February, and a split EP release with Brighton grunge-punks Wimp, the band have wasted no time at all, putting their all into a 10 song debut ;a fast-paced injection of emotionally charged rage and sadness, blending the best parts of emo, hardcore and grunge. The lead single ‘Private Room’ landed only two weeks ago, but with great reception to their official video and a live session at Brighton’s Small Pond Studios, the band have no intentions of slowing momentum anytime soon.

Having hit over 20,000 streams on Spotify in their first year as a band, Prom have gone from strength to strength, making 2024 their year. With appearances at Washed Out Festival, Homegrown Festival and having supported the likes of The World Is A Beautiful Place, Free Throw, No Relief & Saturdays At Your Place, they’ve quickly cemented themselves at the heart of the Brighton emo/hardcore scene.

“From The Wayside” is their debut LP - 10 tracks that encapsulate the raw energy of 90s alternative and hardcore adjacent music sprinkled with modern production. At its bare bones, it is simply guitar/drums driven album which draws inspirations from bands like Title Fight, Basement, Superheaven and Nothing. The vocals share a strong contrast jumping from loud and aggressive performances from Alessandro, straight into soft and melodic passages delivered by Jack.

Recorded in a DIY manner by the members of the band at their home studio at Tidalwave, Brighton (guitars/vocals) and Shaken Oak, Oxfordshire (drums/bass) an entire week was dedicated to crafting tones and delivering takes that would leave the listener questioning whether this recorded was made today or at any point in time after 1991.

The album is being released on 12” transparent dark green vinyl via Sugar-Free Records. It will be available to pre-order here on the 12th September.
