“Her sound is majestically taking shape with every new release” NME
“A sublime, swooning vocal you can almost wallow in" The Line Of Best Fit
“Indie starlet-in-waiting…her vivid storytelling style perfectly combines Sharon Van Etten and Sam Fender” Clash
Indie riser Ellur shares wistful new single ‘Yellow Light’, out today (November 21st) via cult indie label Dance To The Radio (Annie-Dog, SOMOH, Terra Twin).
Marking the third offering from her forthcoming ’God Help Me Now’ EP (pre-order here), set for release January 16th 2025, ‘Yellow Light’ showcases the Halifax sensation’s anthemic tendencies to perfection, and follows acclaimed EP singles ‘Your Dog’ and its title-track, whilst the musician’s debut trip stateside for SXSW is also newly announced for spring next year as momentum continues to build.
With a busy summer culminating in celebrated slots at Reading & Leeds Festivals (BBC Introducing stage), Ellur has certainly established herself a strong force within the emerging indie scene. Ticking off a recent tour support with Blossoms this autumn, the gifted songwriter has drawn plaudits throughout the press landscape (NME, Consequence of Sound, Dork, The Line of Best Fit, Clash, CMU), not to mention becoming a key presence on the BBC Radio 1 (Jack Saunders, Gemma Bradley, Jess Iszatt, Mollie King, Sian Eleri - ‘Next Wave’ interview) and BBC 6 Music (Chris Hawkins and Tom Robinson) airwaves with several standout features.
Detailing her second EP reveal, Ellur explained: “‘Yellow Light’ is a declaration of love to the parts of myself that I can't change. My indecisiveness and defensiveness when it comes to love and life and how, in the past, I've let that affect my relationships. I've intentionally left the meaning pretty open ended within the lyrics because this song is really all about the melodies. I love catchy, indie-pop and I wanted to explore that, taking influence from The 1975 and Sam Fender. This one is my Mum's favourite.”
Ellur’s ‘Yellow Light’ is out now via Dance To The Radio and available on all digital platforms.
