"Sickness is a song I wrote during a time when I was trying to escape a toxic situation. Despite knowing it was harmful, I still had compassion for the person involved and believed I could change or help them by staying," says Elena. "However, if an alcoholic person doesn't want to change, those around them can't truly make a difference. Addiction affects everyone involved equally. Growing up in a toxic environment was a significant part of my life. Taking the blame for someone else's refusal to change can fill your heart with guilt. This song is a reflection of that struggle and the emotional journey toward recognizing that you can't save someone who doesn't want to be saved." – Elena said.

“Having compassion for someone in a toxic situation demonstrates unconditional love, but remaining in such an environment can lead to PTSD and depression, especially at a young age. Children and teenagers growing up in toxic environments, especially those involving alcohol abuse by elders, need support from those around them to escape these harmful conditions, which can cause both physical and psychological issues later in life.” – Elena

This is Elena Mylonas' third single, following the success of "Burning," released in January 2024.
