"Dead Planet Exodus" by DESERTS OF MARS out 18 October 2024

Describing their musical style as 'Mars Metal', DESERTS OF MARS produce a dynamic sonic mixture of stoner rock, grunge, metal, and doom/industrial shrouded in a heartfelt sci-fi/storytelling aesthetic.

The band comments:

"We are excited to finally release our full-length album into the universe. Dead Planet Exodus is a concept album years in the making. It combines the classic Mars Metal sound with an all-new tale of sci-fi terror, action, and hope, befitting the past few years of struggle and perseverance. From the Mars Base to the airwaves, we want you to join us on this journey into the unknown and beyond."

Dead Planet Exodus marks the return of DESERTS OF MARS' collaboration with Jeff Henson at Red Nova Ranch with a blazing full-length album. Built off of the energy and songwriting sensibilities of their previous EP, Return from the Void, the band makes a foray into concept album territory in a tale full of monsters, mourning, action, and hope.

DoM founder Tony Salvaggio, along with Morgan Faber on drums, is joined by Bradley Barnes (who departed the band in 2023) on guitar. Jeff Henson (Producer and guitarist in Duel) and guitarist Jeff Klein (DESTROYER OF LIGHT, GREENBEARD, ABJECT TERROR) deliver a slab of Stoner Rock chock full of all the Mars Metal fuzz and riffs Martian Maniacs have come to expect from the band.

About DESERTS OF MARS
Austin, Texas, based DESERTS OF MARS was formed in 2006 by band leader and founder Tony Salvaggio. Salvaggio explains the ideology behind the band: "I came up with the name Deserts of Mars because I wanted to evoke the Desert Rock vibe. However, it also has a sci-fi slant; it can mean the God of War, so it has ties to mythology. I love letting the listener/viewer decide what it means to them."

Salvaggio continues, "[DESERTS OF MARS runs off of] a steady diet of sci-fi movies, novels, manga, animation, RPGS, and metal fuels me and bleeds into the rest of the band. I’ve been a nerd first and a metalhead for a very long time, and I’ve never grown out of that quest for the next fun thing to watch/read/listen to half a century into life. I feel like if I lose that sense of wonder, it’s over. Always be learning/listening/creating."
