Raining is the first single of PIANOïD², the forthcoming album by Edouard Ferlet to be released next november. Built around the same set up seeing the musician facing a piano controlled by a computer, Raining explores the percussive side of the instrument and the sheer joy of groove. A ping pong between man and machine clocking around 2'30" with an obvious feel good touch. Summer is coming and despite its title, Raining sounds like the promise of brighter days ahead.

About PIANOïD² :
Edouard Ferlet is coming back with the second part of his Pianoïd project, which questions the relationship between man and machine. A solo piano for four hands organised around a device built with a piano Silent™, a midi controller, the Ableton software and a Dysklavier™, which offers him unprecedented possibilities. This tool allows him to produce playing modes that humans cannot achieve: quantity of simultaneous notes, complex rhythms, speed of execution, increased nuances...
Thus equipped with this "exoskeleton", the musician delivers compositions that break free from genres and mixes colours: jazz of course, but also electro, minimalism and even ambient. This new opus particularly explores the rhythmic possibilities of the piano (all the sounds of the album are produced from the prepared instrument) and focuses on the clear line of the melody in short, almost pop formats.
PIANOïD² is a journey into the heart of emotions, where one encounters the pure pleasure of jazz groove (Raining), trance (Herd Instinct), contemplation (Night Moves) or eroticism (Bord de nuit). If it is complex, long in the mouth, this album remains immediately accessible despite its sophistication.
Always driven by the desire to move the lines and explore the frontiers, Edouard Ferlet continues his encounter with the third type: "Man has created robots to reproduce his gestures. With Pianoïd, I use the robotic phrase to make the poetic blossom, and go towards the unimaginable and the unplayable. I also use the instability of the robot caused by the weight of the mechanics, its latency, its changes in dynamics and speed, all the unexpected reactions of the Disklavier piano. The machine comes to life and surprises me. The music then becomes an organic dialogue."
