Featuring the crème de la crème of indie music from Paris and Brussels, Capitane Records crash-land in London for one night only this month with a label showcase at The Shacklewell Arms on 28th November 2024.
Featuring live sets from roster names Lisa Li-Lund, Nicolas Michaux, and Fervents, the label are ready to set the stage ablaze at The Shacklewell Arms—no bullsh*t, just real music by real people.
Don’t miss this raw, unfiltered night of pure indie energy and songwriting craft.
Lisa Li-Lund has lived many lives. The Franco-Swedish musician first honed her skills (guitar, piano, voice) in the anti-folk scene. Prolific, she released 10 albums and numerous EPs while touring across the globe, from Brazil to the United States. Her curiosity led her to collaborate with artists from diverse backgrounds, such as Jeffrey Lewis, Kimya Dawson, The Cairo Gang, The Mountain Goats, DJ Gero, The Wave Pictures, and Quixote.
A fan of The Stones, Springsteen, Suicide, and Dolly Parton, she never confined herself to one musical territory. Her explorations span from Californian lo-fi pop with her duo Bay Bear to the multicultural chaos with French Cowboy. Another world she explored? That of The Big Crunch Theory, an intergalactic electro project she imagined with Gilbr’ from the Versatile label, bridging Sun Ra and her folk roots.
These various journeys have all contributed to shaping Lisa's new solo project in their own way. In a few months, she will release a new album titled Born From Death, produced in Brussels with Nicolas Michaux and The Soldiers of Love. This highly personal album represents both an evolution in her songwriting and a return to the sonic roots of her early passions.
Fervents are a ferocious punk band from Liège, southeast Belgium, for fans of Meat Wave, IDLES, and Title Fight. Two years after releasing their debut EP, which featured the infectious single ‘Billy,’ the trio returned to the studio to record five grittier and darker songs for new EP Plastic Snake Factory, drawing inspiration from the grunge and hardcore punk scenes.
Lyrically, the band deliver vehement cries of anger against societal conformism, battles with everyday addictions, and the pursuit of a better living amid unmissable melodies and hard hitting grooves.
Fervents have built an impeccable live reputation, allowing them to perform more than 30 gigs across Belgium, England, and the Netherlands and securing support slots for bands such as Kills Birds, Cloud Nothings, Flat Worms, and SONS. In their high-octane set, you'll find yourself shouting along in unified angst and love.
Nicolas Michaux is a Belgian singer, songwriter, and producer. He shares his time between Brussels, where he is part of the Capitane Cooperative production group, and the island of Samsø in Denmark, where he lives with his two daughters. Michaux writes and sings in both English and French, consciously standing at the crossroads of different traditions. However, Michaux is guided by a deeply personal and autonomous style and spirit. His recordings, homemade and realistic, almost documentary-like, reflect a life spent listening.
Michaux's production style paints vivid sonic pictures rooted in a deep consideration of instruments and the textures they evoke. Like a landscaper, his work is a meditation on the living world. His "painting" is the musical spectrum.
Alongside his solo career, Nicolas Michaux also produces records for other artists and has recently collaborated for production and/or mixing with Irma Thomas, Turner Cody, Ish Marquez, Lisa-Li Lund, Regina Spektor, Cyril Neville, Binki Shapiro, Ben Chace, and more.
His new album Vitalisme is out now.
