Dublin “velourcore” newcomers PRETTY LTD. return today with their new single ‘I Get So Excited’, out now on all good digital service providers.

Recently supporting NI indie-punks Cherym and County Kilkenny songwriter Robert Grace (Sony Records) the band have also announced a short run of September 2024 Irish co-headline tour dates with Sleaford garage duo Soaper (see below for listings).

Commenting on the single, front man DJ Campbell says: “‘I Get So Excited’ is about a troublesome situationship, one with an inequality in the dynamic. It's about the anticipation and excitement leading up to seeing someone that meant or means a lot to you, but all they're looking for is physical validation, which leads to the anxiousness and nerves that come when you know you're not getting your needs met. But sometimes you just can't help yourself, hoping this time will be different…”

Recorded and mixed by Les Keye at Arad Studios in Dublin, the new track was mastered by Stephen Cannon, and follows hot on the heels of debut single ‘Easy’ and follow-up release ‘Me’ earlier this spring, which picked up support from alternative tastemakers at Vanyaland, Maximum Volume, Soundsphere Magazine, Uber Rock and more.

Trading on their tongue-in-cheek late ‘90s pop aesthetic and a typically razor sharp Irish craic, the trio specialise in radio-ready, arena-sized college pop rock anthems that have more in common with Weezer and The Presidents Of The United States Of America than they do NSYNC and B*Witched.

The band are fronted by big boss man DJ Campbell, who writes the tunes, sings the tunes, and struggles with guitar. If it weren’t for the phrase ‘sure look’ his vocabulary would be halved. Drummer Tom Gaffney wore drumming gloves once and forgot how to chew for a month. “He’s also the only one with actual musical ability out of us, but he doesn’t brag about it and we thank him for it,” adds DJ. Bassist Dylan Scully thinks he’s Peter Parker. Not Spider-Man, just Peter Parker. He started playing bass by accident when his childhood friend replaced his PSP with a bass guitar.

Releasing their debut single ‘High’ in 2023, the trio quickly started gigging around Ireland, completing an Irish tour with Idle Discourse to a rapturous response. Since then they have been getting ready to release music throughout 2024 starting with their Valentine’s Day release ‘Something Nice’, which—along with ‘High’—was featured on Dublin City FM’s Tilt with John Barker.

‘High’ was also briefly featured on Today FM when one of the lads' girlfriends sent in a Spotify link to the station via WhatsApp, before the show realised that the song was about doing drugs.

Lesson learned.
