Dublin based artists Frowning Hours (Ger Kelly) and Bróna Keogh release ‘Radio Play’

A dynamic, indie folk number about social change and the fickle and insensitive nature of the music industry.

‘I was stuck on a track so I sent it over to Bróna to have a listen, she came back with a verse and that reignited my creativity’  - Frowning Hours

‘Ger (Frowning Hours) sent me the song and I immediately felt the lyrics coming through. I was surprised by how quickly it came together. It's got so many intertwining and strangely related themes.' - Bróna Keogh

It showcases a dual perspective of what it is to live in a world that is asking us all to reflect and make changes for the better. It also speaks about the journey artists go through when their heartfelt work is criticized commercially.

'Now more than ever we need to stop polarizing conversations around social change and social possibility. We have to start listening to each other and learn to have heated, emotive conversations compassionately, without othering people or discouraging them to voice their opinions' - Bróna Keogh

Bróna and Ger (Frowning Hours) have known each other since they were kids and crossed paths again in adulthood while studying at BIMM.

Frowning Hours released his debut single Someone Who Won’t in May 2024 followed by Goddamn in June.

He celebrated these with a sold out show in Whelans. As well as opening for some great acts like Moon Looks On and Mick Flannery and playing at All Together Now, Electric Picnic and Whelan’s One to Watch.

He has also had an extensive acting career, most recently playing the role of 'Teddy' in the Netflix series Bodkin, featuring a vocal performance of A Stór mo Chroi. His self produced play Confusion Boats featured original songs and was nominated for a First Fortnight award. He also performed at Cork Midsummer Festival in the musical Evening Train, a reimagining of the Mick Flannery album of the same name.

Bróna Keogh continues to release her music independently. Her self funded EP 'Daisy', recorded during a residency in Berlin is due for release early next year.

She has played shows supporting some of Ireland's most celebrated artists like Gemma Hayes, Pillow Queens, Niamh Reagan, Liam O'Maonlaí, Wyvern Lingo and David Kitt and international artists Nadia Reid (NZ), Elsdeer (Berlin) and Gravedancer (US) to name a few. Her music featured on screen in the Gerard Walsh film 'South' available on Amazon Prime.

Her work has been fervently received by Irish media.
