DRUID Break Their Chains in Single 'Hostage' and Music Video

Druid have opened the cage to the pounding and roaring of their new single ‘Hostage’ and its mind-bending music video.

‘Hostage’, Druid’s first release of 2025, is the perfect show of the high-intensity, high-octane hardcore nu-metal expressionism that they’ve become known for, the sort of music that burrows into the brain and sinks its mandibles in. Record scratching and mixing melds with the drumming to open the song with a rabid, modern beat with a doomsday vibe. This rich hurricane of sound is built up as the growling, predatory vocals kick in, as deliciously feral as the amped up guitar that stands hand-in-hand with it. The rhythm is claustrophobic and all-consuming, a track that truly grips tight with lyrics to match.

With savage turns of phrase and self-annihilating lyrics, ‘Hostage’ shines a light on the chokehold of one’s own thoughts, the way they can paralyse. It examines the bars of an inner prison, built from drugs, alcohol, and other vices that might have once been escapism but now work side by side with the restraints. The themes of the song hit hard, as Druid describes,

“The song touches on the dark side of what happens when you’re not dealing with your problems; the aftermath being that deep and tormented parts of yourself run through your veins that you can’t get away from.”

The music video for ‘Hostage’ chops and mixes grainy, highly saturated analogue footage of armed men in masks with flashes of the band performing to create a fever dream of an experience, playing on the unreality of the internal prison and invoking the fear that comes with it.

Since their 2019 debut, Druid have been hooking fans on their twisted tunes, and have caught attention from the of likes of Triple J, Hysteria Magazine, Heavy Mag, Triple M, and Spotify and Apple Music playlists, amongst others.

Their fiery stage presence has landed them on the roster of Slipknot’s Knotfest and the digital music festival Pulse Of The Maggots, as well as the upcoming TIC’d Off Festival, where they’ll perform among the likes of metal titans Orpheus Omega and Alienist.

Druid will bring the gas to the fire on stage at their upcoming performance at TIC'd Off Festival on May 3
